Hi all,

As speculation mounts, it is possible that my job will be relocating me to Atlanta next year. Before I get into moving mode, I'd like to start getting feedback on possible areas to look at when it comes to living.

We are a couple with no children. Preference right now would be to look at a condo (or maybe a townhouse), without garden. We would prefer to have access to a tennis court and a swimming pool.

Workwise, I'll be in the Cumberland Mall area.

So far, based on what we have seen, the wife and I are leaning towards Midtown, and maybe Buckhead.

What are your thoughts on these areas, or what alternatives would you suggest?

Thanks and cheers,

GenevaFlyer

I would ask what kind of price range you would be looking in but that may be rude. Housing is pretty inexpensive in parts of Atlanta compared to other large cities. The prime areas can be pricey but there are some great deals to be had.

I live in the Brookhaven area and love it. Own a townhome, 3 story, brand new with a pool onsite and tennis center across the street. I couldn't ask for a better place. There are a lot of communities like mine around the city. I think Brookhaven is very close to all of the action but still quiet when you are within your neighborhood. Also, access to 400, 85 and 285 makes it really easy to get around. There are some great townhomes in my area and in Buckhead that I looked at when I bought mine that are very luxurious and because of the market, can be had for amazing prices for what you get. I actually work quite close to Cumberland Mall myself and the commute from Brookhaven, Midtown or Buckhead would be a breeze. I looked in Smyrna which closer to work but I was not fully in love with the area. It's nice, but it was a little more suburban than i wanted.

Stay close to work, our traffic is awful.

I know all about the ATL traffic, as a regular visitor for the past few years. Heading to the airport, I know that the 75/85 mixing bowl can be a mess, so 285 it is from Cumberland, but stay on the left when getting close to 20, as that's the next possible mess ... :)

I'll definitely look into Brookhaven as well.

Price-wise, from what I've seen so far, Atlanta does look as easily fitting the budget, coming from Geneva, where prices are outrageous for a city of 500'000 inhabitants.

Cheers,
