Hyatt Gold Passport - 2 Free Nights: Which Hyatt to Visit?

Hi everyone,

I'm still new to everything here, but my wife and I just got accepted for the Hyatt Chase credit card, so we're looking at four nights (2 award nights x2 cards) at any Hyatt. We're leaning towards the Park Hyatt Tokyo, but I was hoping the Hyatt experts out there would let me know of any other 5* Hyatts that we could use this great perk at.

Also, just wanted to know if there would be any problems booking four nights together, or would I have to book 2 award nights and my wife would have to do the subsequent 2 nights? Thanks very much!

Did you get two completely separate accounts, thereby paying $150/year, or one account with two cards? If the latter, which is what I suspect most married couples would get, then it would only be 2 nights, not 4.

Hi agrater. Thanks for responding. We actually applied and got accepted for two separate accounts, so $75 x 2 accounts for four nights. Any suggestions now that that's cleared up?

If you don't mind travelling , the Park Hyatt Sydney is beautiful!
They are closing for renovations next March and I simply cannot understand why.
It is perfect!

When you call Hyatt to book your nights, just let them know the arrangement. You should have no problem getting one room assignment for 4 consecutive nights.

Just search the Hyatt forums for best place to use FFn nights or Favorite Hyatts etc.

Common list is:
PH Tokyo
PH Zurich
PH Paris Vendone
PH Milan
PH Sydney

PH excluded from the free night offer! Sorry, I can't remember where, and I have not signed up for CC yet. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your input. It says on the credit card sign up page that it's good for any Hyatt in the world, so I hope that they make good on that claim. Looks like it's getting down to Sydney or Tokyo... :)

no hotels are excluded from the Credit Card free night offer.

However, I know what you are thinking of. Diamond members, instead of receiving 2 free nights in a standard room, received 2 free nights in a suite. There are a very few # of Hyatt hotels (under 10, which include the PH Sydney) that will not give you a suite, but will give you a standard room.

It's four nights so you really have to decide where you would like to go. Sometimes we drive ourselves crazy looking for the best "yield." I wrote earlier that I went on a magnificent cruise from Venice to Athens, we flew First Class on Swiss and since I had some free nights, decided to stay in Zurich on the way home.

This was totally driven by trying to make the most of some free nights and guess what? We had NO desire to stay extra nights anywhere but just wanted to get home. Weather sucked and yes, the hotel was wonderful but sometimes you need to think of the other considerations. Travelling to Europe for 4 nights could be crazy!

In this country, we LOVE the PH Washington DC and the Andaz 5th Avenue in NYC has great reviews. Think of what area would work for you, so a search of this forum for hotels in this area and go from there! Enjoy.

Because I already was Platinum, I also got 2 free Suite Upgrade Awards, each valid on a money-paid stay of 1--7 nights. These may not be used in Sydney, Kyoto, Paris Madeleine, or Beaver Creek Colorado, but the free night awards are valid at all Hyatts.

Are you focused on 4 nights at one property ? Why not spit it up with a PH Zurich & Paris or Paris/Milan or Zurich /Milan. Either 2 nights at each, or fly into one city--stay the night, go on for 2 nights at the next, return for one night and fly home ?

A little closer to your LAX home, you might consider the Highlands Inn in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stayed there twice on awards (once as Diamond a couple of years ago, and once as Platinum this past July). Both times got very good (but very different) upgrades: One very large jacuzzi suite, one magnificent ocean view with a deck as big as the room.

Haha, I've already been to OZ before, but my wife hasn't. Sydney is definitely a world class city so we might take you up on that offer. :)

Great recommendation, karung99.

We were in BsAs for our honeymoon and passed by the PH Buenos Aires. It's in a beautiful part of the city, although our friends let us know that there just happened to be a very hush-hush strip club/quasi-bordello right across the street for the rich businessmen. After that, my wife was not so keen on staying at the Park Hyatt. :p

Thanks for the heads up, jmd001. We normally go up to San Luis Obispo and Napa a couple of times a year, but haven't really checked out Carmel. We're definitely trying to get the most bang for our buck with the 4 free nights internationally, but I wouldn't mind checking Carmel out with our included Platinum membership.

Any time of the year you suggest going? Also, what would you say is the best way to parlay the platinum membership into upgrades? Thanks for your help.

Acc'dg to Satori, best months weatherwise can be May/October for sunshine and reasonable temperatures in non-tourist season. Got one of them fancy 1 br jacuzzi tub suites in the timeshare section last year for my wedding anniversary, but I was diamond - dont you have one coming up soon? ;)

You are getting good advice from jumpdogjump and his references to Satori. Regrettably, I have nothing substantive to add. Enjoy ... where ever you go!

I already had a trip scheduled for Hong Kong, so I burned my two free nights at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. I'm pretty pleased as the room for the dates I got were running $400+ a night. $800 hotel value and Platinum is a pretty good CC sign up bonus. :D

Is that the one in Wanchai? I think I remember staying there a couple of years ago... great choice. ;)

When I lived on the Monterey Peninsula (former husband/other life), we often got a spate of beautiful weather in February. No tourists, and sort of in between rainy periods and before the summer fog. Being in LA, you can check in advance and book last-minute, especially if the other plans don't work out. Also, cash stays might be an option at that time of year, winning points with the Mrs. and also saving the free nights for someplace more exotic. My wife and I have stayed at the Highlands Inn in late October twice. both times we had great weather, lots of sun, not much fog and temps in the 60's. Also, not very crowded with tourists. Just about perfect!
