Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - PDB to SEA, South of Expected to ANC
Just returned from a weekend trip to SEA and was completely blown away by the service in F on the way down to SEA. Red-eye flight at 1am and FA served a full pre-departure beverage service to all 16 pax in F. Was a very welcome surprise and we had plenty of time to enjoy our drinks before departing. The amazing service didn't stop there and we had a very nice trip down to SEA. He started the snack service a bit late and I was finishing my pastry just moments before the FAs were seated for landing but was very impressed watching him get that snack and final beverage service out in record time. ^^
Had pretty much the opposite experience on our return to ANC last night. 9pm flight with no PDB greeting or drink orders, took awhile to get first drink service and once snack plates were cleared the FA was pretty much sitting down the rest of the flight. I had to ask for water about half way through and I noticed other pax getting up or ringing their call buttons for drink service. Poor showing for F service...:td::td:
Loved the PDB and hope to see more of that in the future, not just the PDB but consistently good service in F. Most of our trips in F have been great but we still get a few like last night where I am glad I didn't pay for the F seat.

I hope you send a quick email to AS customer service about both flights. They can determine who the FA's were, give kudos to the first FA, and have a chat with the 2nd FA.
Alaska first class service is sometimes hit and miss.
I was on a flight coming back from chicago where a FA played sudoku the entire time. I understand the need for rest and breaks, but this looked bad.

Awesome! That FA deserves a raise :D

Agree with you... I have gotten PDB on all Delta flights in F without fail. One flight HAD 2-3 rounds of PDB service, granted the flight was delayed about 30 minutes after everyone boarded.

Done earlier today. I was flying without thanks certificates so wanted to make sure the FA got some kudos for his great customer service. We'll see what the response is regarding inconsistency in service up front.

When I emailed Customer Care about SOE service in F at the end of July, the response was a $50 e-certificate

My mom's SEA-BUR flight was delayed for 3 hours today. They spent over an hour just sitting on the plane at the gate due to a mechanical issue, yet the FA never bothered doing a PDB despite having an hour to do it (Yes this was F). I know a PDB isn't policy, but wouldn't it be a good idea to just do it when the passengers are sitting on a stuffy plane for unusually long times like that? They weren't on open taxiway and FAs were free to move about. I'm curious to hear about how the actual inflight service was once she lands, which should be soon.

I've had full PDB service on a 2 hour delay last year LAX-DCA...
Today, they came by with two trays of water for PDB.
I think that perhaps in some situations (long boardings, delays, etc) PDB only seems natural. But with an ontime/early depart, a full service bar that would require you to gulp down a rum and coke within 2 minutes before the plane pushes back seems to be an unrealistic expectation. I can see the concern about waste. Otherwise, i'd be all for it.
I think AA and other airlines have a good inbetween of select PDB's (wine, water, etc), that I wouldn't mind seeing on all alaska flights.
