Travel with Pets - Do any airlines allow pets to travel in the cabin to Hawaii?

I've checked with Hawaiian quarantine regulations - despite what some airlines claim, Hawaii does not actually prohibit pets traveling in the cabin to Hawaii. All of the usual Hawaii quarantine and special release program rules still apply, of course.

But I haven't been able to find an airline which allows pets to travel in the cabin to Hawaii (and I have found several which incorrectly claim that Hawaii prohibits this).

Page 5 of Hawaii's "Rabies Quarantine Information Brochure" (rev. 10/2009) states:
"Airline Policy - The Department of Agriculture does not have any regulation regarding where pets fly within the aircraft on flights to Hawaii. It is totally up to each airline’s policy."

So, does anyone know of an airline which allows pets to travel in the cabin on flights to Honolulu, please?

Thank you,
Jay & Yoshiko (& cat Rebecca)

I think it's the airlines way of covering their behinds.

From the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture web site:

"The airline is responsible for bringing all arriving animals to our Airport Animal Quarantine Holding Facility (AAQHF). Pets allowed to fly in the passenger cabin will be taken by airline personnel upon landing and will be transported to the AAQHF."

I think the whole quarantine process is a bunch of b.s.

Why?

Why?

Because I'm not going to trust that every animal on the island is rabies free just because the government say so.

Sorry - not what I meant to ask. I was wondering why hebsan thinks the quarantine process is unhelpful.

Locally, we know rabies isn't a problem for domestic pets; every vet I've spoken to on O'ahu has never heard of a case. But I can understand that some people don't trust what governments say about diseases and would want to have their pets vaccinated anyway.

The best way to do deal with that is ask the Airline itself if they'll allow pets to travel. I haven't flown to Hawaii but as far as I'm concerned they have certain standard measure for that. There is a Health certificate that you need to secure also some documents that they will tell you upon calling them. Do not forget to ask as well their required airline pet carriers because a friend of mine had experienced traveled to another country but never dare to ask about their approved pet carrier so that caused some delay on her part.
