a comment and a question.....few weeks ago while in LX F/HON JFK lounge i noticed this guy with a yellow golden ticket holder and his boarding pass with huge HON VIP signs printed on several different places (he made sure that all 6 of us in the lounge knew that he was very important! to a point of throwing his ticket on a table where three of were sitting while going to get a drink for himself) the other two guys that I spoke with were also HON's but had just a regular boarding passes

this is the first time I have seen something like this (i do travel LX form time to time but mostly LH)...is this unique to LX HON's? i am well aware of the LH red ticket holders for HON/F class pax

I have seen this ticket holder in GRU, its basically a golden version of the LH Red f class slip. looks exactly the same (but gold), has the LX fonts saying

FIRST CLASS
-
HON

on the top left corner instead of LH's first class only version.

I have not seen these issued by LX to F class pax in JFK, for other airport i have usually transited so i had the boarding passes with me

reminds me of a fellow pax who needed to display the HON part of the BP in the outer pocket of the suit he was wearing...

no body says that certain things are done on purpose, I have the same habit of keeping the passport and ticket on the shirt pocket...many times LH red ticket holder can attract stares

Same here. ^

Shall I really care, what the BP shows? What would be the problem with that? I mean, shall I take out my Rolex and put a cover on my LV bag as well (just as examples)...

well i don't really have this "problem" since i hardly wear shirts with pockets , but i do always look which side is visible because i don't want people to stare at my name really, even in the lounges...

sometimes it is a bit too obvious though for my taste with some people and their showing off the BP. but i certainly enjoy the look on their face when the dr. so-and-so types head to the bus and "slacker" sentom jumps into the limo... :D

You have shirts without pockets? Where do you put your Montblanc ball pen???
I am confused.
Valid point re privacy. But I guess the need to show off my hon seems to top that concern.

Why pay €10k+ or spend valuable miles for a First Class BP when you can get one and a holder for €1? The seller seems to be a "mere SEN", so some photoshopping might be necessary. ;)

BP in shirt pocket is one thing, BP in outer suit, ie jacket, pocket is, for me at least, something well different. Btw, now that I think of it, if you receive your BP facing upward and you are right handed, having it face outwards on your suit/shirt actually needs a twist of the paper document, no?

Hmm, I doubt that there is a standard how things are handed out.
I hand them my passport (in a black cover), with my courtesy card in it. They put everything in the back sleeve where there is a little compartment, I put it in my pocket and off I go. I really do not take note or care in which direction the bp faces.
The more I think about it, I will use a neck pouch from now on, just to make a bigger impression.

I just put my passport and boarding pass(es) in my breast pocket, and I haven't really thought about what way I put them before. If I was wearing a suit and perspiring heavily I might consider putting BP and passport in a dry pocket on the outside. I think you spend too much time thinking about how other people do trivial things.

The pouch will of course have to be transparent for highest impact. Perhaps something like this?

Don't know what it is.

Maybe LH is trying to create a new status above HON :D

Head of Purchasing for a large corporation which has signed a corporate deal with LX. He is automatically upgraded to F if available. I once met the local top supply chain guy for a large subsidiary of a German conglomerate based in Zug, who was VIP. Saw him later in the F cabin, although corporate travel regs in this large group are sardine class even on longhauls.

That makes of course perfect sense that the most useless frequent flyer of a company (aka Head of Purchasing) gets into F after signing a big deal for torture class for all of his co-workers. :td:

It seems to print this way if you are on a F itinerary with LX- however not with PYOBP.

Actually, I've noticed a preponderance of shirts without pockets. Always after I've made the purchase, brought them home, and unpinned them to find the lack of a front pocket! These tend to be high quality, 100% cotton button downs. The only place for my MoncBlanc Meisterwhatever is in my manbag!

Now back to our regular programming...

This reminds me of an incident I encountered a few years ago at Paris CDG Airport. I was in line at a service counter in a gate area for Air France. There were about six people in line. A Frenchman came along and went to the front of the line, demanding immediate attention and waving his Air France "Service Plus" card. The agent told him he would have to go to the end of the line, and he started yelling at her and saying that because he was a "Service Plus" member, she had to wait on him immediately. I got irritated and told him he had to wait at the end of the line, just like the rest of us. He started shouting at the agent and her manager, who had showed up, saying he was going to report her.

Rightly so, the agent and manager did not handle him before the rest of us, and when I got to the front of the line, the Manager thanked me for telling him off. I told her I would vouch for her if he did report her. Some people think that because they have an airline membership they have the right to jump a line or get immediate attention.

Or HON and FIRST. :D

I am no HON and mostly LAST, so I will just keep my BP where it is the most convenient: folded in the pocket of my trousers. And YES, folded with the text outside (for easy scanning).
My passport mostly stays at home or otherwise remains in my coat since I will only need it once, which also makes it easier to stow the BP in the trouserpocket.

Anyone heard of trousers with transparent pockets? @:-)
