I was surprised to find there was not already a thread for this hotel. Mr. FB and I spent 3 nights here September 7 - 10. Actually, Mr. FB spent 3 nights here, but I only spent 2, because I was taken ill on the way to Queenstown and spent my first night at Lakes District Hospital in Frankton.

I called the hotel from the hospital to let them know Mr. FB would be checking in without me, and he had no problems checking in. I gave him my AMEX and PC Platinum card, which probably made thing easier.

I had booked a "Standard Room" at the Entertainment rate (NZ$165 for two nights and NZ$172 for the other). We were upgraded to a King Lakeview Room with a balcony. We were assigned Room 116, which was a lakeview and mountainview room, though the lake view was somewhat obstructed by the roof of the restaurant beneath our room.

We received two complimentary bottles of water for the stay, not per day. We also parked our car, but the hotel only charged us for two nights of parking. We did not eat at the hotel, so we can't speak for the restaurant.

When I was able to join Mr. FB at the hotel the next day, I purchased the wifi for NZ$33.69 for 24 hours or 1GB, whichever came first. The wifi was among the fastest hotel wifi systems I have ever used. However, when my 24 hours were up, I noticed a signal from "HQWifi Steamer Wharf" and figured out it was an alternate provider. It was only NZ$15.00 for 24 hours or 500Mb. The connection was noticeably slower, but still fast enough for my purposes. I am not sure if that signal is available from all rooms, but it worked for me.

We had no complaints at all about the hotel, and we would stay there again. The location is hard to beat, convenient to central Queenstown. More important, everyone we encountered was friendly and responsive any questions or needs we had.

I think this is a really nice hotel. It's in a lovely lakeside location, 2 mins from the shops and restaurants, and has universally very pleasant staff. I say this even though on my most recent stay they 1) forgot to service our room one day and 2) kindly upgraded us on a points stay but then added the upgrade charge to the bill! - removed when I pointed it out.

Overall a very pleasant place to stay.

Holy kiwi NZ$33 (US$24) for a 24-hour wi-fi! I thought Las Vegas hotels were already big ripoffs. I hope they also sell wi-fi by hour as one shouldn't spend much time online in the beautiful Queenstown!

Take a stroll, enjoy the fresh air and visit the internet cafes a few minutes away.

Far more reasonable.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely three night stay here a couple of years ago. We got a fantastic rate probably due to the time of year...early June.
My only regret is that the weather was not warm enough to sit out in the balcony and enjoy the fantastic view (http://1hhqja.bay.livefilestore.com/y1p_Uebsq98uqfMJMDIFU047nTcMDV53B97EGr7i5boJ0N01Vs L43eHLok0qfhBlOgzdeIiZEzBZdwikKHSXYZbg7jq_d8llPYu/SNC11445.JPG). I would certainly go back. ^

Can I ask you a question? Are you able to hear the street car passing by kind of noise from your room? Are you able to sleep well with ZERO car noise? The street in front of the hotel is actually the busiest street in Queenstown. There are buses passing by and all kinds of tour buses, big and small car passing every minute...It is indeed a very convenient location if you want to just walk to restaurant to have lunch or dinner. I was thinking of staying in this CP next time when I visit Queenstown again but I was concerned if there is any noise. After all, I go there to relax.

Don't recall any street noise but it was during the off peak season and the road was very quiet.
If you're worried don't get a room to the front.

If you're worried don't get a room to the front. Our stay was in January, so peak.

I agree with HIDDY, though I'd say opting out of a lake view (front) would be a pity.

Did I mention the stale cigarette dogends on the balcony from previous occupants of our nominally non-smoking room?
