I am switching to Amex for business and need to convert about 200K points. What is the best option? I am debating between Delta(no status and no account yet but have the 50% bonus right now) and Marriott(where I am platinum). Its 300 K Delta miles or 240K Marriott Points. I like Marriott's travel programs and point savers. Any suggestion as there may be some multiple transfer options I am not aware of. There is a fee of $190 or 19000 points to convert to the delta miles(every 1000 miles is $.95).

Which American Express rewards program will you be using, Membership Rewards? Do you accumulate miles with any airline other than US Airways?

Only US Air and Southwest(A List close to companion).

Marriott can be cool if U use the points for a travel package!

converted them all to Marriott. Did some research on Delta's site and 2 roundtrip tickets to Italy were 180,000 miles something I think I could get on my own for less than $1800. Marriott's travel packages are very good.

Converting them to Starwood Preferred Guest points would have given a much higher return. A Marriott Travel Package would give you 50,000 miles plus 7 nights in a low end Marriott Hotel (or 15,000 additional miles if you return the hotel award). So miles wise you get 65,000 miles. A transfer to Starwood, however, would have gotten you 120,000 miles which you could use on a huge list of airlines.

I'm thinking of not renewing my Diners Club card and I have a bunch of points on it (150K+). I just recently signed up for the Starwood Card. Would you recommend transferring the points from Diners Club to Starwood?

This next question might be better on the Starwood forum but what are the best uses of Starwood pts? I see that I could transfer them 1 for 1 to USAirways and several other airlines. Or is it better to use them for free hotel stays?

Thanks.
