I've looked around and don't seem to find much on this property. I was sort of on business (shooting photos at a concert in Rome) and had only one night to stay. It was middle of July and hotter than blazes. We checked in to a very friendly staff... I had AP rate of 118 E and was upgraded to a suite. The room was beautiful matching most of the IC's that I've been in. It overlooked an Olympic sized swimming pool with a lot of activity. Given the nice room that was airconditioned really well, I almost wanted to stay the evening and skip my photo shoot. Got back in time to enjoy a very nice lounge scene with live entertainment. Good value on the drinks.
As the property is a bit away from central Rome, they have a shuttle service to both the airport and to Central Rome... forget if there was a minimal charge... Also, there is a full taxi stand within 100 feet of front door. Given the fact that the property had a resort feeling about it, the next time I am in Rome, this indeed, will be at the top of my list, notwithstanding it being away from Central Rome.

Buzzman,
Is there a more centrally located HI in Rome? My wife and I plan on spending 4 nights there in April, right after Easter. Is the Taxi the best way to travel?
Or should I rent a car? How about Metro/Subway?
Any help would be appreciated

The IC is indeed much more central but you are going to spend A LOT more money. Renting a car in Rome is the LAST thing I would do. It's crazy to drive there and parking is nil. I found the taxis fairly reasonable and like I said, the shuttle at the CP seemed very reasonable... it might have been free but I didn't check into it as I was going a different direction and a taxi was my only option. Not sure about their metro situation. As I said before the CP was a beautiful property.

The CP is a very good hotel . Their shuttle operates on a schedule and was free the 3 times we used it . It will take you to the center of Rome . You can also take the Metro to Cornelius station and catch a bus to hotel , more difficult late at night. Great swimming pool and decent spa. Many airline employees stay here.
The IC is a great location , but pricey .
I recently stayed at the HIE San Ganvonni . Very urban , but outside tourist area . But Metro station is only a 5-10 minute walk . Small rooms --clean and functional . Cost around 100 Euros/night, including a nice breakfast spread.Train noise can be problem , if a light sleeper. this is best IHG property for money.

CP Rome is a good choice in summer (nice outdoor pool).
Staff is very friendly, the restaurant is not bad, executive rooms have been elegantly renovated (but bathrooms look dated and are very small).
Remote location might be a problem (around 15 minutes with traffic by taxi from city centre to the hotel).

This is a great hotel for families. I was able to book a room for 2 adults and 2 children with points and it was upgraded to a suite with a king bed and two bunk beds filled with stuffed animals.
And free parking which is great in Rome.
The only problem was that they told me there is a new tax, started in 2011 in Rome that charges €3 per person per night even on award stays. Has anyone heard of this before? Should I have paid this?
I had to pay 2 euros a night when I was over in May at a different property using AA miles. Looks like the tax is 3 euros a night for 4* or higher. Per this thread it is assessed per person. See:

Stayed in July 2012 on the 5th floor. Worst hotel experience of my life. Arrived around midnight and went straight from the airport to the hotel where we crashed. Woke up in the morning to ants everywhere. EVERYWHERE!!!! First noticed it as ants crawled across my foot as it first touched the carpet. Then as we got in our suitcases, realized they were literally crawling in ants. ...And not just a few ants..... hundreds of thousands in EACH suitcase that was touching the ground. Only our bag that was on the table and another on the bench were spared from the mass infestation. In disgust, we quickly contacted the maid (just down the hall) and showed here the ants everywhere......including crawling on the bad. We went downstairs to checkout and see what the heck was the deal. We were on the 5th floor.
Andreas at the front desk was unapologetic and insisted we must have had food in our bags and thus it was our fault we had ants. I invited him outside to help us rid our clothing and bags of the ants to which he declined. My husband not wanting to cause a scene, took our luggage to the parking lot where he emptied them and shook out all our clothing.
My backpack (which was the only bag with food - some granola bars) had thousands of ants in it. My husband emptied it out.......and it was literally crawling with thousands of ants. I was disgusted. I took it back into the hotel to show Andreas how disgusting the gajillion ants were. His response was, "What do you want me to do? It's not like they're snakes." I was furious with his attitude. 2 female coworkers behind the desks also had an indifferent attitude and acted as if I had ants in my bag it must have been my fault.
I waited while Andreas emptied the ants all over the floor and desk behind the counter. Took hin over 15 minutes to get the ants out of my empty backpack. He simply brushed them off the desk like it was common place.
Wrote priority club and was told the Rome manager would contact me....which never happened. I am a platinum member with lots of stays at crowne plazas throughout the world.......and never seen anything so disgusting or disturbing. I was charged almost $200 for the worst hotel experience of my life with no apologies.
DON'T TAKE THE CHANCE ON THIS HOTEL. NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
