Chicago - Garrett's Popcorn: ORD versus in town

This may sound silly, but Ms Scatter LUUUVS Garrett's and wants it "within hours" of it's creation. I'm planning to grab some on the way through ORD, since I won't being going in to town. I may have to change flights depending on the answer to the question below (seriously).

Here's the question, is this stuff made fresh at the location at ORD, made within hours, or is it a day old?

On another note, recall the smelly food thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travelbuzz/1118221-bringing-my-own-food-board-am-i-being-offensive-feedback-needed.html?highlight=smelly+food), is the popcorn smell offensive to anyone? Last time I carried, I felt I needed security to keep people from jacking me. (Note: I wasn't eating or even opening the bag on the plane. It was triple wrapped to keep in the yumminess, which, of course, includes the aroma.) :D

Pretty fresh.

Buy it at ORD and take some with me when I visit certain people who need a Garrett's fix. Never a complaint! ^

I haven't noticed a difference, but then I don't get just "popcorn." I get the Chicago mix.

I've brought back Garrett's in my carry-on multiple times and no one has ever noticed the popcorn smell..even when I sneak a few handfuls on the flight home!

Thanks to all!

Is the Chicago mix the caramel and cheese mixed together (strange, but yummy) or is it something else?

Garrett's does make it fresh at O'Hare, sometimes I ask if they can provide the freshest batch if they are at the bottom of the case. While I like the product downtown slightly better (particularly store on Randolph), the O'Hare product is the real deal.

Why is the Randolph store your favorite (is it the store or is the corn better there)?

I've never understood the fascination with Garrett's. Yes, it smells wonderful to walk past the store, but the product? Eh.

Then, you either do not like caramel and/or cheese corn or have never had it from Garrett's. Please name a better product. @:-)

If you're talking about plain popcorn, then your "Eh," is perhaps warranted.

I do like caramel and cheese corn, but I do not taste that Garrett's is some amazing product that everyone else seems to think it is. I'm not saying there's something better, I'm just saying, it's kinda meh.

I generally do not like popcorn, but find I enjoy Garrett's. I'm sure others might be as good.

Ms S. likes Garrett's in part because she grew up with it. Brand X may or may not be better, but lacks the additional sentimental value.

The Randolph store makes the popcorn fresh on site and has enough of a crowd that the product turns over frequently. Additionally the staff seems more professional and this location seems to have the fresshest best tasting of all the stores. Moreover, it is a few blocks from our home. :)

IMO, the Chicago Mix from Wells Street Popcorn (I go to the location at Clark and Diversey) makes Garrett's taste like Cracker Jack in comparison. Infinitely better and no long tourist lines to deal with!:D
