We will starting in FLL and going to drive to TPA one day next week.

I am wondering which would be the most interesting route to take.

Not in a big hurry to get to TPA at all. Will have car by about 8AM in FLL.

Only need to be in TPA for dinner and hotel check in.

Should we take I 75 straight across, then up the west coast?

Or go a little south then take 41 to Naples?

What is there to see or do on these two routes and what is the toll on I 75?

Any other ideas are welcome.

Thanks

75 can be the fast route, but is a mind-numbingly boring drive. You can reasonably expect bumper-to-bumper traffic at any time on the (stretch around Sarasota).

I usually drive up 27, then west on 70. More to see, pass through little old towns...

You need to consider what you find interesting. 27 up to SR70 or SR60 will pass you through some little towns, lots of trees. Not sure it is really that interesting, but more than trees and dead critters. A building or two might break up the view and drive.

The straight, all highway route is 75. Just did it from Ft Myers to Tampa. Nothing much to see. The Alligator Alley stretch has even less. Though the Big Cypress Preserve is along the way - dust dirt road that will take you out of the way. You might see a croc there.
