Hi,

I am planning to visit the Southern California Logistics airport (Victorville) mid September to get some good shots of the parked aircraft there. I will be driving from Las Vegas and will have 1-2hours there. I have seen on google maps that most aircraft are parked at one end of the runway. There seem to be streets/ roads around there.

- How close can you get to the aircraft?
- Can you recommend any locations with good views?
- Is it worth going?
- Any other tips you might have for my planned visit?

Thanks a lot. Appreciate your feedback.

Last time we made a stop by the storage facility/airport, we had a 787 Dreamliner (or so it was marked on the tail) about 150' from a chain link fence where we stopped to oogle. They were doing some inspections on the nose with a bucket truck.

Ive come by there several times when traveling Ca #395. From west of the airport, there were cut up airliners: 747, 737 probably an L-1011. We could see inside the fuselage, it was cool! (I'm easily impressed) :) Some aircraft had the nose removed, some just the engines removed, some had other parts missing. All of it stuff I'll never see anywhere else.

Around on the east side, it seems there are more ongoing businesses on that side dealing with airport/airplane matters. This year was the first time we saw that side of the airport. There were some planes with livery we didn't recognize. There was a an older plane sitting near the chain link fence: like something out of a 1940's movie. Engines had been removed, but in good, restoreable condition. I didn't know what it was, I'm not well versed in old equipment (apologies to "greatest generation" -- no insult intended;) :p
It seems to me, I think the street name might have been Airport Blvd. Maybe.

Its a cool place to stop and take a break from driving. However, I didn't see any restaurants or gas stations in that immediate airport area. No place set up for the tourist trade. Coulda been there, I just didn't see it all.

Don't forget to visit the Mojave parking lot as well, if you have extra time. Also no real tourist facilities, though.
