Nice :)

I'm curious how these gifts are targeted. Have you guys shopped at Armani in the past? Or if not, maybe it's based on merchant coded spend?

I have had a bunch of them that I never used. I dd use the Ferragamo one for a nice pair of shoes I would never have bought otherwise. Maybe 500$ will get a nice shirt and tie?

You could also instead get sunglasses, cologne, belt, etc.

This one is not too bad, especially since there is no minimum spend requirement. Seeing some of those other ones like $1k gift card, but the cheapest thing in the store is $20k makes me laugh.

How do these gift cards come, UPS, or just normal mail?

I just called and asked about it and he said he'll put in a request for one to be sent to me. Sweet! (dunno if I'll actually get it, but cool nonetheless).

He did say it is only valid at Giorgio Armani "Boutique" stores, not outlets, the website, AX, etc. He also checked (before submitting the request for one to be sent to me) if there is a boutique "in my geographic location".

Well I thought I would get a shirt and tie. But the cheapest shirt I saw was 525.00 so I picked out the one I liked the best at 550 and charged 54.13 for a vey nice shirt... But 550!?!?

Well it is a great shirt for 54 bucks.

At least it's a dress shirt!

I was at Nieman Marcus a while ago and saw some colored t-shirts (t-shirts!) for $400. I don't remember the brand, but I couldn't help but laugh and then wonder at what level of wealth would one consider that a wise purchase.

You must not be married. I looking at the latest Needless Markup catalog. You will find some sky high (flyertalk pun) prices. And NM has their own FB program.

You bought a Giorgio Armani black label shirt and those black label clothes are the most expensive in terms of all of Armani's lines except Armani Prive which is for women only.

Armani dress shirts are not worth the money, IMHO. You can purchase several custom-made (ie, tailored) dress shirts for $500.

Ugh, even as a "Charter Member" personal Cent holder for some 10 years, I've never gotten any gift cards. Once I was able to call and grovel for one, but I've never been sent one unsolicited.

On the flip side, I just called and they said they would send one out, so happy ending.

The Armani store in SF is right near where I park my car, haven't been in there in years, this is a good excuse to see what is new.

When I had the business cent I called and specifically asked about getting them and was shot down and told they are only for "consumer cards".

That is so weird how some people get several a year and some not even one. On the back of the armani card it says "Copyright American Express travel related services". Could it be based on travel patterns? I have no idea, my guess is many different factors combined - zip code (maybe median home value/income/proximity to stores?), spending volume, what type of spending, etc.

Another thing is when I first enrolled in the benefits for the card, I asked the cent rep if I am "opted in" for gifts, and they read out the privacy policy bullets and one of them was something along the lines of share credit summary and history with partners.

But not for $54.13

I used to have a Business Centurion along with the Personal Centurion at the same time. I would get Ferragamo, Van Cleefs, Dominica Vacca, etc gift cards and EVEN the Canon digital camera for the personal centurion card. Never once did I receive anything for the Business Centurion card. I called them and asked what's the point if Business Centurion members don't get any "benefits". Long story short...this year cancelled the Business Centurion and still have not missed it at all. Doesn't seem worth having for $2,500 per year in this economy...

He did on page 1:

11/15/10.

On another note, I used mine yesterday. It comes up on the receipt as a discount. I spent about $200 and change over the gift card amount. The employees there were extremely nice, but after we checked out we looked around at some sunglasses and heard them in the back say how they should have made it with a catch (they're definitely on commission), like spend $1000, get $500 off. Then another employee chimed in and said, not a $1000, more like spend $5000 and get $500 off:rolleyes:

With that said the Chicago store has basically no inventory. The Vegas store is way better and has tons more stuff. What do they expect me to buy when they have virtually nothing to choose from?!
