Jones' 4-year-old grandson had allegedly found a used condom in the bedsheets and began playing with it, at one point putting it in his mouth.
Jones complained to the hotel who then gave her a free room, breakfast and a free trip to the Aquarium which was already included in the room rate. The little boy also got a dose of mouthwash. However, he later started to feel unwell and needed to go to the hospital, where he was tested for STDs.:eek:

We know it's Thursday and you've probably had a rough week and hearing about the latest grossest thing found in a hotel room is not what you want to hear right now. But you are going to want to hear this story...
No, I don't want to hear about the latest grossest thing found in a hotel room. I wouldn't mind if FT thread titles were renamed, either, to conceal the gross details of such topics from those who don't want to hear them. Like this...
GROSS: Boy Gets Sick at Wyndham Garden Hotel in Atlanta. Family sues.
While the family aggressive courts the media and is putting together a lawsuit, the hotel and the Wyndham company has not publicly commented on the scary situation.
The "Managing Editor" wrote this article? Who edits the Managing Editor's work? Neither of the above quotes were clearly written. The better article is in the AJC (http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/4-year-old-allegedly-597904.html).
From the comments that were posted to the HotelChatter article:
"The Wyndham Garden mentioned in this article, as well as the adjacent Baymont Inn, closed on August 16. The hotels will be converted into housing for GSU students."
While not unheard of, I find it suspicious that someone from Alpharetta didn't just commute into the city each day.
From the AJC article:
The family has hired Thomas Jones, a lawyer with Jones & Associates on Cascade Road, to negotiate a settlement with the hotel. Jones has been contacting local media about this story through an e-mailed press release.
He told the AJC he will file a lawsuit against the hotel if out-of-court negotiations are not successful.
“Right now it’s about the child’s health,” he told the AJC. “We can’t even think about a settlement. One of the things is to evaluate the claims, and this may not be evaluated for years and years and years.”
Scam? This same story (innocent child finds used condom at hotel and gets sick) has been used in other places many times before now. But if it's true and if the boy is actually sick from the experience, the person most irresponsible would be the person that originally left the condom behind, IMO.
Since the hotel is no longer with Wyndham and since there probably will not be a public response from Wyndham about this, should this get moved over to TravelBuzz?

I have tweaked the title of the thread very slightly, to be less revealing and more factual.
It appears the hotel was part of the Wyndham chain at the time of the incident, so the thread remains here.

This story is wrong on so many levels. Wyndham, you have a lot of 1. training of staff 2. potential damages to the family to own up to and 3. PR spin to do as a result of this.
As one who uses the Wyndham program extensively, I'll be watching what goes on in these hotels much more carefully.

I know it's horrible but I have not laughed so much in a long time.

We were disturbed to learn of these allegations directed at the hotel as the safety and welfare of guests is our top priority and we certainly do not take any guest claims lightly. Because the incident is currently under investigation, we're not able to comment but please note that this hotel was sold in mid August and is no longer part of our system.

I think if you did an poll of educated people you would find they would be highly suspect of this story of what happened. I hope chid protective services is researching the matter and if the child was sexually abused by any family member.
