Not being an iPhone user, I have been a bit underwhelmed by the mobile site.
i wonder if this will work if I go to the main site on the browser from my droid, given that they don't have a droid app.

It should. The headline is that you should get the bonus for booking from your mobile device. It shouldn't be limited to "app" users.

For current promotion, is this on top of the 8000 points? For example, book two stays using the mobile site, will I be brought to 8000 points (for promo) + 1,000 (Booking Stay 1 via Mobile) + 1,000 (Booking Stay 2 via Mobile) for a total of 10k points?

Do Choice award bookings still count as stays for the purpose of elite status earning? If so, is it possible to earn the bonus points for booking award nights through Choice Mobile?

Booked a room with my droid through the full site (www, not m or mobi). The hotel points posted but I did NOT get the 1K bonus. Shot off a missing points request this AM, will let everyone know what they say.

The points earned for your stay have been credited to your Choice Privileges account. There is a specific "application" for Choice Hotels that is different from the www.choicehotels.com website. The specific"app" needed to be used to receive the 1000 bonus points.
So, I asked:
What is that application? Is it available for the android operating system, or only the iPhone?

So... regardless as to the implication on the website, sorry droid or blackberry users. I reread the offer details on the website and they are unclear at best, contradictory at worst.

So now I get an email from Choice. I forwarded it the help desk with this intro:
I recently inquired about not getting the 1K point bonus for booking through my mobile phone. I was credited with the points, but was told that it only applies to people with an iPhone who use the iPhone app. Fair enough. I still use my phone to book, but I now understand that there is no bonus.
I would recommend, however, that the person/people responsible for promoting this bonus on the website and the person.people responsible for this email make that point quite clear. When I read this email, I still seem to think that any mobile device satisfies the intent of the promotion, especially given the line that reads (emphasis mine):
"Visit choicehotels.com on your mobile device or download the Choice Hotels iPhone App at the Apple App Store..."

Does Choice have ANY idea how clueless and unprofessional they look? They can't even get their own promotions correct. Oh well, I'll probably spend the rest of this year building up status with another chain.

I'll add that on the iphone 4 the app doesn't even work right. The date selector is 'one off' (you enter sep 15 and it reads sep 16) and SSO codes can be entered but they never work. I once again booked on choice.com because I could get my SSO rate there but not on the app.

Or maybe not so much. Couldn't get the mobile app to complete the reservation for my weekend stay so just booked through the website. Just tried setting up another stay a few minutes ago, and the same thing occurred. I can search for hotels in the area I want to stay, I can select a hotel from the list, and I can select a particular room. When I attempt to complete the reservation by logging in, however, I get a cute message ("It's not you. It's us.") that tells me I need to use other methods to make my reservation. I've turned off the phone and rebooted, but get the same message when I make a second attempt to book.
Anyone else run into the same problem?

Yes, same problem last 4 days. Cannot login any which way using the iPhone app or the mobile webpage from Safari browser. At the same time the login works on the PC

Last time for me it was added to base point, 4x bonus and platinum bonus.

My base points posted in the last day or so but no bonus. I guess I may need to contact Choice.
I also used the Android app today to book an awards redemption. Wondering whether I'll get 1000 points for that?

Got the bonus points posted for two stays about ten days ago, but I'm not seeing any continuing reference to this promo on the Choice website or Android app. From earlier posts, it appears the promo was to last through December 15, but I'm wondering if Choice has decided to pull it early?

I booked a stay through the mobile site last week, stayed the same night. Received points for the stay, no 1,000 bonus points. My total was less than 500 points. I emailed them yesterday, no response yet but I think it said it could take a couple of days to get a response.
