Can anyone recommend reasonably priced accommodation near the In N Out burger bar on Sepulveda?

Many thanks.

The property that's physically nearest In-N-Out Burger is the Radisson on NE corner of Century & Sepulveda, although I'm certain any of the LAX airport hotel shuttles would be happy to take you over there, and I'm sure there are plenty of cabs there who would be happy to take you back (or you could call the hotel, or even walk or ride the Parking Spot shuttle back to LAX and catch your hotel's shuttle, or you could just walk).

The best LAX airport hotel is the one you get for $65 on Priceline.

Agree that Priceline or Hotwire are a good bet in this situation.

Another Hotel somewhat close to the In-N-Out is the Custom, near Lincoln and Manchester:

Last year, I Pricelined the Renaissance Montura (4*) for about $60 (+tax+fee). At dinner time, I took the hotel shuttle back to LAX and then caught the Parking Spot shuttle to In and Out. After eating, I walked off my 3x3 Animal Style by walking back from In and Out to the hotel - the walking time (at a very leisurely strolling pace) was 25 minutes.

I'd estimate the walk from the Radisson or the Courtyard (immediately next door to the Radisson) to be anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes, depending on your pace.

Sorry for shooting in a question: Is the walk from Radisson to the In-n-out generally considered safe, also after dark?

I have a stay at the Radisson in January, after arriving on an international flight, that arrives at 18:20. Give some time to clear immigration, claim the baggage, get through customs, and get to the hotel: Should I still feel safe walking up there, lets' say, between 9 and 10 PM?

Sorry for asking, but I've heard that some areas around LAX are unsafe..

I would not be at all concerned about crime while walking between the Radisson and the In-N-Out at any time of the day or night, unless you are an idiot who waves money and jewelry around. Since airport police HQ is on the route, if you were to yell for help there's a good chance a police officer would hear you. I would say it's at least as safe as walking around midtown Manhattan near your hotel. Just keep your eyes open. There is maybe a 5% possibility you could encounter a homeless person. Whoop-ti-do.

I WOULD NOT stay at the Custom Hotel under any circumstances. It might possibly have changed since its previous incarnation as the notorious Furama Hotel, but there are so many other, better, closer, and reasonably priced properties that I would NOT consider it.

I frequent the Westchester In-N-Out quite often and I would say that the area is quite safe. In fact, there is a small park across the street from In-N-Out where I see families with young children at all hours of the day. The park is a popular plane spotting area.

The Radisson on Century Blvd is the closest that I know of to In-N-Out, but there are others (all no more than a brisk 10 minute walk): Marriott Courtyard, Sheraton Gateway, Super 8 LAX, Crown Plaza, Embassy Suites.

Just walk up north on Sepulveda until you get to the crosswalk between Westchester Pkwy and Sepulveda Ewy, cross the street, and you will be at In-N-Out.

As for the Custom Hotel, I can't really pass judgment on them, but I can recommend the bowling alley (AMF El Dorado Lanes) just south of it...Mondays after 5pm: $5 cover, $1/game. :D

What's your definition of "reasonably priced"? I agree Hotwire and Priceline have good deals for the area. Parking can be pricey. I would not bank on a hotel shuttle taking you to In-N-Out except during a lull in taking passengers to/from the airport terminal. I'd grab the best price I could (for the level of hotel I wanted), and worry about how to get to a hamburger place later. We recently stayed at the Radisson and walked to the consolidated "transportation center" (large bus sop serving L.A., Santa Monica and Culver City busses) to take busses to Santa Monica and Westwood. Maybe wouldn't go late at night, but other than that felt quite safe.

Google Maps says it's .7 mile, 15 minutes, to walk from the Radisson to the In-N-Out. Sheraton Gateway is just a tad further away. If you get a good enough deal on the hotel, you could afford to take a cab. I personally prefer the Encounter Restaurant in the middle of LAX, but to each their own.

Yes, very safe. At all times of day and night. The area around LAX is reasonably policed and safety is not an issue from the crime perspective. Fair amount of pedestrians ply the pavements between hotel row on Century Blvd and In-N-Out burgers on Sepulveda Blvd, and the City Bus Center in between the two points.

Encounter Restaurant is good, but a bit pricey.

Here are two other places at LAX that are often overlooked. One is atop Encounters and the other is below Encounters:

Above: the observation deck, opened to public Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-5pm

Below: City Deli, Monday thru Friday from 6am-3pm.

The observation deck is currently chock full of either plane spotters or TSA folks. The City Deli is frequented by airport staff and airline stewardesses. I've already hooked up with a few of the stewardesses just by being at the deli.:D^
