Gaming Loyalty Programs - Why do casinos send out low dollar marketing offers?

I get mails from the MGM properties all the time offering cheaper than normal rooms (sometimes $39, usually $59+), and they also throw in a bonus of $10-25 FREEPLAY.

Just got a b-day offer from Wynn with just a $25 free play offer (no room discount, and "terms and conditons apply", but they aren't listed anywhere on the card ).

Why do the marketing people at these casinos, esp. a higher end one like Wynn, think that $10 or $25 is going to draw us into their casinos?

And even if they would draw us in, the offers all require a stay at their casino. Seems like it would be in their best interest to make the offers valid without the room requirement.

They figure guests will spend more money if they are staying at the hotel than if they just drop into the casino.

And they think an offer of $10 or $25 is good enough to get people in the door?

Boy, they are really aiming for the lowest tier :)

The local casino often has offers just as good, pays out in cash and doesn't require air travel to get there! I'd expect more from a Vegas hotel.

Maybe I should change the purpose of the thread...what's the smallest free play offer you've seen from a casino? :)

My SO gets the Harrahs offers each year from the Atlantic City properties each month and everytime it's the same brouchere offering the same coupons. They are always just trying to give you an excuse to gamble, dine, enjoy. I used to get them until I was not a Gold member (she still is).

I think the worst offer I ever received was from the Excalibur, offering me 10% off the prevailing room rate Monday through Thursday.

The local Indian casinos send me $5 a week offers all the time. I generally ignore them and only play when I play, and in a few weeks I get more $5 offers.

If I visit a Station casino today, I'll get $2.
