Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - So does the KC Downtown Marriott only allow two people per room now?

Trying to make a reservation for March for three people and it says The hotel you requested March 9, 2011 - March 13, 2011 cannot accommodate 3 guests per room.
Please reduce the number of guests requested for each room, and then increase the number of rooms.
I thought maybe this was just for the basketball tournament but I put in other dates and it gives me the same thing even rooms with two double beds. The three of us have always stayed here for the Big 12 basketball tounment but it looks like we won't be staying there in 2011.

No idea but sounds like a marketing ploy to increase room sales. If you can book a double, I wouldn't even tell them how many people you plan on sleeping in there. (yeah, yeah, the fire marshall...)

I've stayed in that hotel several times before: the rooms are normal sized. A double-double room should handle 4 people (semi) comfortably.
I'm guessing it doesn't even violate fire codes... I've booked 4 people in a room in KC many times.

And again, I have to wonder why anyone puts in the number of guests in their reservation? What are they going to do, put you in "hotel jail" ? :p
(favorite line from the great football movie, The Replacements, as modified)

"Hotel jail"... Well, they could walk him to that Holiday Inn next door... :p
I think we all agree: pop a "2" in the number of guests field, request two double beds, enjoy the hoops...
