Yes, I know, it's always advisable to rent from one of the big companies.

But for Aug 10-16, Alamo wants 3 times what Advantage does. I'm not expecting much, but is it at least semi-acceptable? Thanks.

I almost went with them but after reading reviews I chickened out.

This was posted somewhere else on FT and had great rates.

t is always advised to hire a car from a trusted company as making a bad choice for it can ruin your trip and even waste your time.

LOL! Sorry, but "even waste your time" AFTER the trip is ruined?

(However, I tried an 'off brand' once NEVER AGAIN. They told me "we resize cars based on demand so this week this car is "full size" and last week it was "compact". Not to mention that they HAD to have my personal insurance info or I could not rent unless I bought THIER insurance. Luckily I had a back up reservation at a major and just walked away from the hard sale and lies)

I know where you're coming from-- Fox rent a car is a fraction of the cost of the bigger guys for our upcoming trip. But two or three years ago I used them and it was a nightmare, ended up costing more money than expected and literally cost us a day of the trip as we had to stay in LA until the next day when the main manager showed up to sort us out. Never again, just not worth it.

I've used E Z Car Rental numerous times with good results. MCO, MIA, & DEN are where I've had my rentals with E Z.

Today i rented a car in aadvantage. For full size car, they have only one option- nissan altima which is not full size. They said we have to pay for the full tank and ask us to give the car empty tank. After i went into the car, i checked the fuel, It was only half full. They charged me 58$ for that, which normally costs arround 20$.

So cheap rental cars are charging different ways. So my suggestion is go for the good car agencies.

Well, the gas was a rip off.

The car size... depends.....

Rental car companies do NOT do the same "measurement" system you and I might use. For example, I had a Honda Civic last week... it's midsize :) (Yeah right) It is always best to get "examples" of what they consider a "full size" before you rent. It may not be what you expect.

I used Advantage last month in LA. They are not so much an "off brand" as the leisure rental arm of Hertz. I cannot complain about anything except the amount of time I spent waiting for their shuttle and in line. For the savings, I'd do it again, though - I saved $70 over Avis on a 2 day rental.
