Sixt - Sixt revenge ?

I confess, last September I damaged a Sixt rental car in Ireland. Someone was looking out for me. This was the first and only time I had ever taken out the "extra " insurance. It took a few days for me to get good at everything being on the other side. That pole put a nice crease in the whole left side of the car.

Next month I need a rental for a week in Nice France. Previous trips to Nice I've rented from Europcar. But Sixt has a better price , on a car with automatic transmission.

Might they have a secret file on me, just waiting for me to step back into the E.U. and give me the black list car?

Or any suggestions for renting a compact in Nice?

well, did you pay for the damage or was it coverd by any insurance?
If so and you don´t owe them any money SIXT for sure will welcome you back as a customer.
If you still owe them, or if there was any legal subject I´d prefer other companies :)

I don't think I owe them anything else. I turned the car in at Shannon Airport early evening. Everyone at Sixt had gone for the day. A note on the counter said, "leave keys in the box".
I checked my CC bill when i got home. It was about $100 higher , but I expected that might be a small deductible or service charge.
I had paid for the extra insurance, since I had heard my CC coverage excluded Ireland.

Accidents happen....as you say somebody was watching over you that day as you had chosen the top insurance cover and you didn't get hurt.

The additional transaction is more than likely the reduced excess. If there were any outstanding issues we would have been in touch by now.

Thank you Gary. That was a great rental experience, and I didn't have an accident this time. the car was a Mercedes A 180 diesel. very clean. The Sixt in town office in Nice is located in Le Meridien hotel. That's where we were staying. Very convenient being able to pick up the car in the hotel's parking garage. The three young people I had contact with all had big smiles, and were eager to help. When we headed out of Nice for a week, that little Mercedes did a great job climbing the hills.
