Most of the hotels near the airport are sold out on 8/4. What's going on and will it affect my ability to get to my meetings in Clearwater and back to the airport?

The only thing I can see is the American Idol Live! Tour, on August 4 at 7:30 PM. I don't know if that would sell out the airport hotels, though.
Aerosmith's coiming to town on the 7th, but again I can't see that selling out airport hotels.
Clearwater is due west of the Tampa airport (and Tampa proper is due east) so I can't imagine you'll have trouble getting to and fro.

I Googled 'tampa conference aug 3 - 5 2010' and found this

the event was not listed on the Tampa Convention Center site, but the story goes on to say TCC is the location.
