Hello
Has anyone experienced buying a Canadian travel card on Bestwestern.com and getting charged in US funds on their credit card? I recently purchased a $150 Canadian travel card which was then emailed to me. Then looking at my AMEX statement I was charged $142.15 in US funds which then converted to $155.22 Canadian. Does not seem right to me. Anyone have any thoughts?

I complained and they smoothed things over by giving me 1000 extra points. Still, it's annoying. Why can all sorts of US-based merchants (e.g. United Airlines) charge a CAD price in CAD on a Canadian credit card (even Amex) yet BW does not?

I can confirm that this does not happen when using a Canadian Visa card for a C$ purchase.

Yes, I got 1000 points after I complained.... Oh well. Lesson learned; do not use AMEX.
