WestJet Rewards - Connecting in YYC to EWR - Is One Hour Enough?

Hi, I recently booked a flight from YEG-YYC-EWR with WestJet in late August. Upon arrival in Calgary, I only have an hour to collect my bags, checkin, go through US Customs, security, then to departures.

Is one hour enough to do all of this? What if I don't make it? Will WestJet wait for me? I'm worried that I'll miss the flight!!

Thanks!

Connections sold on westjet.com are planned that way by the company. Connection times for both WS and AC from domestic to US in YYC is 1 hour. These are based on the airline experience at the airport. Lots of people fly the same connection every day, and we couldn't continue to sell it if there were recurring issues.

Each circumstance is different when it comes to 'making' or 'not making' a connection. On one day a EWR flight might be able to be held for people taking an unusual amount of time completing the process, but not on another. Either way the connection is planned so that the *VAST MAJORITY* of people will have no problems making that particular connection.

Just don't take any en route coffee stops, or give any backchat to the US Customs Officer (I've see people miss connections for these and other reasons that shouldn't have to be said) and you'll be fine.

Personally I don't think it's a long enough connection but is what's called a 'legal' connection, meaning the airline and the airport authority deem it an acceptable connection baring any unforseen delays. To me though it's always the bare minimum and you'll know for next time to perhaps scan the connections the computer offers a little more closely.

Since you already have a ticket in hand the choice seems to be just hope for the best and try and make your connection as quickly as possible or pay a change fee and back your YEG-YYC flight up by another hour or so.

Good luck!

One hour is plenty in YYC
