Hi
I'll be in Atlanta for a couple of days and I won't have a car. I checked the prices for downtown hotels and they are very pricey for my wallet. Any recommendations for hotels in close proximity to public transportation that can easily take me to the city centre. I'd like to see Coke World and the aquarium.
thanks,
Marlene

Please provide a room rate range for "inexpensive".
If it is a sightseeing trip for only 1 or 2 nights, consider the Westin Peachtree Plaza Atlanta. I think you can maybe get a cheap room for $150 to $200 a night. Politely ask for a room as high up as possible. :)

There is a Holiday Inn (Express I think) there that is reasonable (try the online Entertainment card rate). They have a free shuttle to the airport, where you can get on Marta to go downtown or to the other sites you want to visit.
As mentioned, you'll have to let us know what you consider cheap.
I would look at hotels within walking distance of the Lenox, Buckhead, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs MARTA stops. I can think of tons of hotels in all of those areas but I have no idea what you want to pay or if you're looking to walk across the street or 2 or 3 blocks to the station. That will all make a huge difference.
