my sister-in-law is married to a Swedish citizen and they live in Sweden. my mother-in-law wants to go live with them for several months because my sister-in-law is expecting triplets in a couple of months.

any advice appreciated! :)

Shouldn’t be a problem or take long time to arrange given the circumstances.

Contact the Swedish Embassy in Washington and they’ll send you the right way. A quick look at their webpage gives the following info:

You could also take a weekend-trip to say London after 80-90 days

Do I need a visa to enter Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Norway?
U.S. citizens visiting for fewer than 90 days are not required to obtain a Schengen visa. The Schengen member states maintain a list of countries whose citizens must obtain a visa to enter the zone.

cheers,

It's 90 days in any 180 days - so if someone has stayed the full 90 days they would indeed need to leave the Schengen area for 90 days before they can come back.
