Greetings,

Forgive me if this has been answered before.....

I flew my daughter (22yrs) from DTW to SLC on an award ticket.
The GA tried to tell her she was a standby passenger and would have to take the next flight. My daughter stood her ground and was allowed on the flight.

Question, do the same IDB rules apply if you are on an award ticket w/ delta?
Or can the bump you at any time for any reason?

Thanks!

Joel

An award ticket is confirmed space - it is not a standby ticket. If the rules for check-in were met, your daughter must be accommodated, with all mandated IDB rules (request for volunteers before anybody is bumped, bumping according to established/published priority, due compensation) applying. There are exceptions, including last-minute substitution of smaller aircraft and weight/balance for aircraft seating 60 people or fewer. The regs are a bit lengthy.
