If this where to happen and I disputed any of the charges my personal insurance would not pay and call b.s. on (diminished value, loss of use, admin fees) can they pop my credit rating bad without a legal judgement first.

Anyone encountered this.

P.S. most auto insurance will not cover these. only one that I ever found that did was Metlife and I no longer have them.

Disputing the charges on your credit card will not ruin your credit, no. If they don't charge your card, bill you directly, you don't pay, and they turn it over to a collection agency, then yes, it will have an adverse effect on your credit.

Fallguy,

I own a collection agency. Each account that gets assigned to us is reported as a collection account to Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union after the 30 day validation period has passed. Simply stated wreak the rental car, not pay for it, your credit is going to suffer.

What happens if the amount in question is the subject of a lawsuit? Would the company wait for the outcome before handing it over to you, would you have to sit on it, or does it go through like any other case?

Not saying I would fight accident costs, but if Budget tried to stick me with five weeks out of service at the full daily rate every day to replace a bumper, even if I found a shop nearby that could replace it much more quickly, I would definitely sue to get that reduced.
