Thanks for sharing with those of us who could not see it in person. Nice job on the video, MostlyAir. I once saw the prior Air Force One in the sky, and it was an amazing sight!

It's okay that you posted the video here, as there is a Midwest ground service vehicle in the video. :D

Very cool. How far in advance of the landing do they shut the airport down?

A delta jet had just landed when we saw the 747 coming in. So they really didn't shut it down that fast. But before they took off it was shut down for awhile.

From what I remember the last time Airforce one was at General Mitchell they didnt really shut down traffic when it landed, almost like they put it in the general landing pattern...It was when they were taking off that traffic was halted for a while.

I don't really know the situation of when they shut down traffic, because of what happened the first time. They may have shut down traffic after airforce one landed when I recorded the video. If they follow proper procedure the time should be 20 minutes, by what I'm told.

ETA of 1:30 PM, with the President scheduled to speak at 2:00 PM. Due to security, I believe that the Layton Ave observation area will be closed at that time.

Saw the plane at MKE when I landed today about 2:15. Was on a flight to DTW a few weeks ago and we were held on the tarmac at MKE so Air Force One could clear DTW before we arrived. And I just barely got through MKE before Air Force One landed in August. Two thoughts came to mind today after all these 'near misses' - either the President is flying too much or else I am :)

With an election two months away, that plane will be making the rounds, as he rallies the troops nationwide.

If you get the chance, GO! I was there when the last one returned on a Sunday night - deplaning at the gate right next to theirs. It was an awesome event!! (I am guessing you mean the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight...)
