If I get a AONE4, will A class generally be available on the A380 flights from the US? Also, where else does QF fly 380s these days? How many do they have?

Qantas have 6 of these 388's and schedule* them for: QF11/12 (SYD-LAX/LAX-SYD), QF93/94 (MEL-LAX/LAX-MEL) & QF31/QF32 (SYD-xSIN-LHR/LHR-xSIN-SYD) QF9/QF10 (MEL-xSIN-LHR/LHR-xSIN-MEL) *Not all flights, check carefully. Another one is scheduled for delivery in Q4 this year with two more for Q1 next year. See here for more: Qantas A380 Implementation Schedule ( http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/a380-schedule/global/en) number_6 Jun 24, 10, 12:55 am A availability is about as scarce as award availability, fwiw. There is some, but goes quickly and I suspect some days of the week are blacked out (at least seasonally). So if you need to travel on a specific date chances are AONE4 will be on 744 rather than A388 (I'd say there is more than an order of magnitude greater A availability on 744s). serfty Jun 24, 10, 1:19 am A availability is about as scarce as award availability, fwiw. A quick fare bucket check would show this. e.g. I see the following daily A availability for QF 12 on some random weeks: Jun 28 - Jul 04: 7960096 Aug 29 - Sep 04: 9978989 Nov 21 - Nov 27: 9999989 Feb 13 - Feb 19: 9999949 nologic Jun 24, 10, 6:36 am It looks generally available. On July 2nd, the QF12 read F3/A0, but that would probably be similar on 744. But pretty open on other days. I thought I remember reading that QF wasn't allocating A space to these flights, like I think is the case with SQ and EF with their F cabins, but that may have been early on. Thanks for the heads up on the routings. Would you take QF F to Asia over CX F? serfty Jun 24, 10, 6:40 am ... Thanks for the heads up on the routings. Would you take QF F to Asia over CX F?For us in OZ it's moot as there's no longer any CX F to/from here. NM Jun 24, 10, 8:17 pm For us in OZ it's moot as there's no longer any CX F to/from here. indeed the only F choices in OneWorld network between Aus and Asia are QF and BA since CX dropped F to/from Aus about a year ago. number_6 Jun 25, 10, 8:48 pm CX still has a tariff filed for F SYD-HKG and MEL-HKG so they may be resuming seasonal F service later this year. There is hope yet. Recently CX has been making some fare changes, for example the cheapest J fare YYZ-SYD that I found was on CX (and not AA, QF or AC). Second cheapest was on BA, despite much longer distance. Needless to say QF was the highest (and using QF codeshare LAX-YYZ cost substantially more than using AA flight number -- I suppose QF just does this for their corporate discounts and not for general sale). |
