If it is AA or CO there will be no problem. Note that if you are flying Economy with AA or with CO they may charge you for checking in baggage. joshwex90 Jun 20, 10, 4:43 pm Who operates the ORD-EWR flight? If it is AA or CO there will be no problem. Why no problem with CO? I didn't know that they had connection with agreements with LY.. Note that if you are flying Economy with AA or with CO they may charge you for checking in baggage. Doesn't AA's codeshare with LY allow pax in Y to check their luggage for free? drbrog Jun 20, 10, 7:55 pm I'm flying AA to EWR. I suspect I can check it all of the way through to TLV. gordo6 Jun 20, 10, 11:08 pm Why no problem with CO? I didn't know that they had connection with agreements with LY.. They do. Those connections can be bought by any travel agncy and via elal.com on the other destinations section. ELAL has interline agreements with many airlines. They include AA for all classes on all routes, and on domestic routes: DL (First class on flights with 3 digits and economy on all flights), UA (business on domestic flights with international number or on a 3-class plane & economy on all services), US, CO, United Connection (only economy o these carriers) Doesn't AA's codeshare with LY allow pax in Y to check their luggage for free? No, check this out: http://www.elal.co.il/ELAL/Hebrew/HidePages/MatmidDeals/he_baggage_fee_matmid150210 - hebrew only I'm flying AA to EWR. I suspect I can check it all of the way through to TLV. That's correct, but you will have to pay for the bags. joshwex90 Jun 21, 10, 7:50 am I didn't get the end...it said you have to pay on an SFO-NYC-TLV route; what about the opposite? gordo6 Jun 21, 10, 8:33 am I didn't get the end...it said you have to pay on an SFO-NYC-TLV route; what about the opposite? You don't have to pay for the baggage on TLV-NYC/LAX-XXX (XXX=US destination) because LY does the check in and they dont charge money for baggage. JohnnieZ Jun 21, 10, 8:35 am I didn't get the end...it said you have to pay on an SFO-NYC-TLV route; what about the opposite? Nope. You pay only if AA checks-in your baggage (and you). If LY does it, you don't pay. ebzed Jun 22, 10, 3:28 am Guys, If he have a flight with connection, but the final destination is Transatlantic, no matter which direction, he get 2 free baggage allowance as long as he does the check-in process to include the final destination (means, doesnt pick up luggage in jfk/ewr and go to EL AL). Continental DOES NOT CHARGE service fees for transatlantic flights (even if you are in connection, and the actual transatlantic goes with LY). (based on knowledge from friends). Americal Airlines will react the same (based on expirence) You need to mention you do an international/transatlantic flights at check-in, sometimes the service people play dumb... So comes the question why the hell to check-in ORD-EWR, Pickup luggage and check-in again EWR-TLV? 1. With Connections, in 99% of the times EL-AL will call you to identify the luggage before it goes to the plane. 2. Even if your luggage get on-time, Its very possible it wont get on TLV on the same flight as you (Priority goes to EL-AL Baggage, Then Connections (while each connection luggage is being scanned, if no time, it will simply go the next flight after scanning)). 3. Upgrades, Seating and etc - You will need to wait at EL-AL Gate or go to EL-AL checking to do so... |
