Travel with Pets - Pet Carrier on JetBlue

I would like to know if anyone has experience flying with their cat on JetBlue. What I want to know is how strict they are concerning the pet carrier. I have an 18lb cat that I don't think will fit into the recommended carrier size on the JetBlue website.
Right now I use a Kennel Cab for medium sized dogs to carry him to the vet. I am thinking of buying a medium size Sherpa but it exceeds the limits according to their website. I am flying from FLL to HPN on an ERJ90 if that helps. The carrier needs to be able to fit under the seat in front of me to carry him on. Any help concerning this question would be appreciated, thanks. :D

When looking at the allowed measurements always remember that Sherpa bags have soft sides and as such can easily be squeezed under seats. Sherpa seels a cat carryon bag that might work for you.

Also jetblue sells their own carryon soft sided pet bag.

Last question, what happens if the gate agent thinks my cat carrier is too big? Would I have to buy one from JetBlue or would they send me home? This is a one way trio for my cats who are going to live with my in-laws.

Compare the measurements on the Kennel Cab for medium sized carrier you already have with the one that B6 sells. If they are the same don't sweat it. In fact I would print out the link to the approved B6 pet carrier and bring it to the airport as backup. @:-)

The Kennel Cab I have is definitely bigger than what JetBlue sells. They sell stuff for small pets, my smaller cat can get in but not my big one. The Sherpa bags are all about an inch too big each way but I don't think that should be a huge problem since they are soft sided and can collapse somewhat. I just don't want to end up buying a bag at the gate or being told I can bring my cat with me by JetBlue.

I was able to successfully transport my cats using a Sherpa carrier. My cats had to lie down the entire way (it was a 3 hour trip) but I calmed them down as best I could by trying to pet them in their carriers by sticking my hand in there from time to time when they woke up.
The Sherpa works great because the bottom is hard and most of the rest of the carrier is soft but it has a springy frame so when you take it out from under the seat it goes back to its original form. Good luck!

I'm traveling with a 16lb dog and I have a soft sided carrier that taller than 8.5 inches required by jetblue. Has and anyone flown with a pet know whether or not they are strict about dimensions? My carrier is a soft sided and can collapse under the seat.

First, welcome to FT.
I would honestly be concerned about the comfort of the dog if you collapse the carrier to fit under the seat... might be very uncomfortable for the dog.

I've tested the size and she's pretty comfortable as she like to curl herself up in a ball. She has a very short tail
