We arrive MIA in July and are driving to Pompano Beach, staying at the Residence Inn, PB for 2 days. Has anyone any suggestions for things to do (not clubs) and where to eat. 2 Adults.

Florida - What to do in Pompano BeachView Full Version : What to do in Pompano Beach bagpuss Jun 3, 10, 2:13 pm We arrive MIA in July and are driving to Pompano Beach, staying at the Residence Inn, PB for 2 days. Take A1A for a nice scenic drive up to Las Olas, head west. Also, I like Aruba Cafe at A1A & Commercial for a great beachfront restaurant. Very lively. Delray Beach is a bit further afield (20-30 minutes) but you could visit Atlantic Ave. Shops and restuarants. Just take A1A north. Boston's on the Beach has a nice view. Butterfly World is in Pompano, IIRC. sallyerd Jun 6, 10, 6:13 am Best restaurant (maybe 3 miles north of Pompano) - - go north past the Carrabbas and have a real Italian Mom & Pop experience at Bon Gustos. Spend maybe $5 more per entree. Worth it. http://bongustoitaliano.com/Menu/tabid/56/Default.aspx Near Butterfly World there is the Pompano Festival Flea Market (all indoors). Also in western Pompano, there is a county park called Quiet Waters where one can water ski or enjoy a small water park: http://www.broward.org/Parks/ThingsToDo/Pages/WaterParks.aspx Drive to Delray/Boca outwest and take in Morikami Gardens for a Japanese Tea House experience (also delightful Bonsai). http://www.morikami.org/ See! There is some life in the Pompano (ish) area after all! ;) bagpuss Jun 7, 10, 2:37 pm Thanks for the info^:) monitor Jun 7, 10, 5:41 pm Best restaurant (maybe 3 miles north of Pompano) - - go north past the Carrabbas and have a real Italian Mom & Pop experience at Bon Gustos...Since three miles north of Pompano is where I would venture for a good neighborhood Italian, I went right to the link to check the place out. It says on the website that it is located on N. Federal Hwy in Ft Lauderdale, about 5 miles south of Pompano. I will try it one of these days when I am in that neighborhood but I think that the OP needed the heads up. There is no reason for him not to try it if he has a craving for that sort of food but let's get him pointed in the right direction. :) And what else to do here in the summer? Enjoy the uncrowded restaurants, shops, and beaches. Most of our spare time is spent in and around the water and that is why we came down here. On Federal Highway, the city limit line between Ft. Lauderdale and Pompano Beach lies about a mile north of the restaurant (at about McNab Road). So if one is in the Pompano Beach area that lies south of Atlantic Ave., Bon Gusto is not too far away. monitor Jun 9, 10, 12:45 pm I would think that the Residence Inn where the OP is staying is the one on A1A at the 14th Street Causeway, a few miles north of Atlantic Blvd. mudley Jun 26, 10, 6:01 pm I will be in FLA in 2 weeks. anybody been to this? monitor Jul 10, 10, 11:44 am It is a large, permanent flea market with a tremendous number of stalls. If you like that sort of thing you certainly will like this one. bagpuss Nov 5, 10, 6:47 am Well, I'm a bit late replying, It was an easy drive from MIA to the hotel where we had a lovely relaxing time at the beach. Drove to Sawgrass Mill for shopping. Hotel room was great, had everything we needed including complimentary breakfast and free cabanas on the beach. Just a realaxing start to the vacation before driving to our villa in Clermont. sunrisegirl Nov 14, 10, 12:03 pm I will be in FLA in 2 weeks. anybody been to this? Tends to have better quality stuff than the FLL Swap Shop, but I find most things at Festival Flea Market to be overpriced and very similar.
