Mid-Atlantic - US Airways Fare Rip-Off SYR-PHL
I commute weekly between Syr and Phl. US Airways is now charging over $500 one way on a plane small enough that gate checking is required. I can fly to RSW from Phl for $250 round trip. This Syr flight is always full and it leaves at 5:30AM. How can they continue to rip off the people flying out of Syr all the time and get away with it. The same R/T flight leaving from Phl is so much cheaper we are going to start booking flights originating there. Can anything be done? The flight is about 1 hour long and sometimes, we are stuck on a Prop plane of all things for a flight costing $500+. Does anyone know how to get around this. I have to fly this R/T till next March.

"Take Amtrak or drive to EWR and fly CO" appears to be the only other option that would cost materially less for the flight. Of course, you'd be spending a lot of extra time that way and paying money for gas/tolls/train fare also.
Considering that the drive from Philly to Syracuse is less than 5 hours, you might just think about driving if you really want to save money. Doing this trip by air is probably only slightly shorter, if you count driving to/from the two airports, checking in and waiting for your flight, and flying.

This Syr flight is always full...
That's why US Air can get away with it.
