Budget - Need Help - Received Car With No Insurance Card or Registration

I just picked up a car in Toronto and when I got home, I decided to check for a copy of the vehicle registration and insurance card as I am driving from Toronto to Buffalo. I checked the all over the car and I cannot find any registration paper or insurance card. I am pretty sure that it's illegal to drive a vehicle without proper documentation (insurance/registration). What options do I have here? Can I even drive the car back since there is no paperwork in the car? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I once asked Budget this when I too did not find the expected paperwork in the glove box. This is in fact normal for all the companies. If the police pull you over for any reason, the rental agreement is what is shown instead of registration and insurance documentation.

Would OP have any issues crossing the border, as he is driving Canada to US, assuming his contract permits him to drive the car across the border?

Possibly. When I asked Budget why the Trailblazer (a few years ago) with PA plates had no registration documents, they said don't worry, if you get pulled over, the contract is all that's needed. They then remembered I told them I was going up to Albany and asked, wait a minute, are you going into Canada? I said no, we're going to Albany. They repeated, then don't worry.
