South - MEM airport hotels: any tolerable options?

I'm attending a concert at the Levitt Shell in Memphis and then have a 850a flight out the next morning. So I'm thinking that staying at the airport may be the best option. Are there any tolerable hotels at MEM? If I choose to stay downtown instead, how long would it take me to get to MEM in the morning. Is the River Inn a decent option?

There are a few options around the airport (including a Radisson immediately nearby) but I would not finish an evening of music and fun with a night at the airport :)

I would recommend staying downtown instead; the journey to the airport from center city is 15 minutes, more with traffic, and MEM is a small airport where check-in and security are usually a breeze.

I have never stayed at the River Inn so can not comment on the quality, but the location is very quiet, on a little island called Mud Island; I only remember one bar / restaurant on the island. If you want more animation, I'd stay at the famous Peabody Hotel or somewhere nearby (DoubleTree, Holiday Inn, Westin and more) to have some ribs and listen to music at BB King's, walk down Beale Street or enjoy a beer at the Flying Saucer (300+ varieties)

Cheers,
J-

If a quiet near-airport hotel is needed, there's a Marriott Courtyard tucked in an office park development a few minutes from the airport
(at 1780 Nonconnah Boulevard
Memphis, Tennessee 38132 USA
Phone: 1-901-396-3600)

It has an airport shuttle van, so maybe enjoy the Memphis nightlife as suggested above, then taxi to this Courtyard.....and van to airport.

If you're considering breakfast at the airport, AVOID the restaurant that is in the corridor between B and A.....it was terrible & expensive last week.

Not much for options at the airport. Its pretty quick from downtown to the airport. The Westin is downtown, as is the Madison ( a boutique hotel) and the Peabody. And others too. If it were me, and I live in the Memphis 'burbs, I would stay downtown at one of the above....

I stayed at the MEM Courtyard on Nonconnah for two weeks while at NW training. It was a very nice place. Although there is NOTHING nearby in the way of food. Like peersteve said, its in the middle of an office park. Also the shuttle would only go between the airport and hotel, although this was years ago so that could've changed. I would still recommend it though, an above average property.
