Title basically says it all. Will the CO forum be closed and keep the UA forum open, or will an entirely new forum be created? :)

my vote would be a whole new forum so that things from the old two airlines don't get mingled with new ideas. Basically keep it for just things of the new United.

This is really an issue for Talk Board.

This is really an issue for Talk Board.x2.

But I suspect they'll be a new United forum with the old UA and CO forums within it, just like the new DL or US forum.

I vote for the new UNITED.

My guess is it would be similar to how the Delta/Northwest board merger occurred...the dates that both carriers were on one board was when there was only one FFP for the airline.

can't type much as i just had shoulder surgery today, but this is my assumption as well.

until DOJ approves & its a actual reality, they are still 2 separate entities...that said, i think a takeaway from the nw/dl merger for ft could be that a merger forum could be beneficial...

more next week as the discussion goes on & i get my left arm back! ;)

I believe a previous TB went to a great deal of time and trouble to create a precedent/process that can be used in this instance! ;) ^

x2.

I would support any such proposal.

Exactly. I believe this should be done exactly as it was for NW and DL. There's no need to reinvent the wheel.

I agree.

On the topic of how FT handles airline mergers and forum consolidation was anything done for the HP/US merger that wasn't done with the more recent NW/DL merger? Just curious.

As I recall (and I obviously don't have access to the private TB discussion forum any longer) the end result was more or less the same, but the process was a bit sloppier as it was done on the fly.

FWIW, here's the detail of how DL/NW was done: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/town-hall-official-talkboard-voting-decisions/942457-motion-adopted-future-merger-dl-nw-forums.html

The notion being that no matter how the airlines are merged in terms of operations and operating procedures, FT is first and foremost about the FF program. So the new forum is created when the details of the merged FF program are announced, allowing posters to discuss the details of the new program in the new combined forum while continuing to allow posters to discuss the legacy programs until and even after their final phase out.

Of course, there may be a better way to do it and this TB is certainly not bound by that precedent. But I personally think it still makes sense. :)

I think we gotta wait til it's approved by everyone before moving forward - but once it's approved, I'll support the method that the NW/DL merger happened.
