Florida - Ground Transport: Fort Meyers (RSW) to Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ)

Are there any cheap options for ground transport? Flying to Florida to visit my grandmother, who lives in Sarasota and can't drive very far. I prefer AA which doesn't serve SRQ.

Options from Tampa are $40 each way, and flights are more than into RSW.

Any suggestions?

How long are you planning to stay? Have you considered renting a car?

I have! From Tampa or Ft. Myers it's expensive. From MIA it's really cheap, and no extra to do it as a one-way (MIA-TPA/RSW). I'm considering that, but it's a bit of a pain to drive...
