Moved by lucky9876coins and seconded by bhatnasx
to amend Section 3 of the TalkBoard Guidelines as follows:
replace "Flyertalk President" with "TalkBoard President"
replace "The President will also serve as" with "The President will also serve as or appoint another TalkBoard member"
This vote will close on May 16, 10 at 4:17 pm or after all TalkBoard members have registered their vote, whichever comes first.
Per the TalkBoard Guidelines:
The purpose of posting voting topics in the public TalkBoard Topics forum is to solicit member feedback on any motions that are up for a vote and to allow for comments after a vote is made. It is at the sole discretion of the individual TalkBoard members whether they choose to post in the public discussion thread, there being no requirement to do so.
So while there is already a thread and discussion on this general topic and it is safe to assume that TalkBoard members have reviewed that thread, this thread is about this specific motion. Please feel free to post questions, comments or any other sort of feedback.
A motion shall pass if two-thirds of TalkBoard members participating in that vote vote ‘yes.’

FWIW, this is a no-brainer technical correction, IMHO.

I beg to disagree. I see the ability of the President to delegate his responsibility to be a rather major change and would have voted against this amendment were it not for the caveat added that restricts the ability to only delegate this responsibility to other TB members.

Why the need for such rewording?
Why the need for such rewording?
Flyertalk President doesn't exist and the TB president will be able to officially appoint another TB member to be the liaison with the moderators. Just delegation of tasks.

Sounds like a technical issue to me. I have no problem w/ it, but I'm also not looking in the sky for black helicopters ;)
Cheers.

As TalkBoard has an office of Vice President;
Can somebody explain the situations where the TBVP is able to stand in for the TBP - and then explain whether this delegation being proposed is just to facilitate leaving the TBP job to the TBVP - or to another nominated officer?
Is part of the TBVP's role to fill in for and back up the TBP or is it a completely separate, no-assistance to TBP role?
Just a link to where this info is set out or a decision has been made, will suffice.
Thanks.
BiziBB
As someone who spent too much time reading these guidelines in various drafts - both seem sensible.
BiziBB - you'll find the info on the duties of President and VP set out in the existing guidelines: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/10628536-post1.html
(If this amendment passes, can I suggest you update that post to include the amendments, as I think it's the only public, 'official' set of guidelines we have and as such its a useful resource).

Agree on posting an update if this passed. The guidelines are also posted in the "What is the TalkBoard..." sticky at the top of this forum, here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/talkboard-topics/918161-what-talkboard-how-new-forums-other-suggestions-considered.html#post11201712).

I'm guessing we won't get any explanation from Radioman as to why he didn't vote, but now would be a good time for him to speak up and explain that failure since I'd like to know why he wasn't able to carry out his responsibility.

He must be very busy. He has only posted once in the public Talk Board forum since the 2009 election campaign.
They haven't posted in any forum since mid/late February. Perhaps there is something larger than FT going on in their lives. Illness, injury, same of a family member, etc. all possibilities.

Your gimp ball or mine!?!? :D
Seriously though, good on the TB for catching these. ^

Since Radioman managed to vote in the Ambassador proposal motion, suggesting that he has been on FT, I'd still like to know why he wasn't able to vote in this motion?
