Haha... jokes on me. We decided to tack on an extra day in Italy, so my wife could spend it $hopping in Milan. Of all the days to book a short stay in Milano, I picked Italian Labour Day (May 1st) when of course, all the shops my wife wanted to go $hopping at are closed !

On the plus side, it's probably saved me enough money go plan a trip elsewhere.
I hope she's happier with Tuscany.

Actually I think that was brilliant planning on your part.

Complimenti!

Purely accidental, as I keep saying to my wife

I used that trick going to Padua very early on a Monday from Venice. All of the stores were closed until 3PM or the entire day, including the Italian shoe stores.

Of course, it's only a temporary fix until the next trip. There is no way that she is going to forget the Monday schedule :(

I think shop closings depended on where you were. I was on Capri that day and all the shops were open... and mobbed! It was as if every Italian in a 100-mile radius went to Capri that day.
