I arrive May 18 at 01:00 and depart around 09:00 same morning. Unfortunately the SIN transit hotel is fully booked. They said to check with them upon arrival, if there were any cancellations.

How likely do you think I could get in to the transit hotel? (are there usually cancellations?) Or should I just go ahead a book Fragrance Hotel to guarantee that room?

I really don't want any hassel after flying for 20+ hours.

I wouldn't count on a room becoming available if there is no room now, and no waiting list.

Which one were you planning on staying at, some of them are used more for a quick stay with a prostitute. Especially the ones near Geylang.

Fragrance hotels are ok for a one night stay, but they don't look to much like the photos on there website.

On booking.com you can book the Le Peranakan Hotel for $55usd for room with no window, and it's quite close to the airport, with little chance of traffic, especially during your hours.

Its rather expensive getting out of the airport at that hour.

Accounting for customs and immigration clearance, you'll be out around 2am and there is a 50% surcharge + $5 surcharge on top of the normal fare. That's about $30++ in taxi fare back and forth for about 5 hrs of rest.

Airport lounges are $10 an hr, its good for a shower and short nap.

If you really want a room, try hotel 81 or Fragrance in JOO CHIAT area, that is closest to airport.

If you are connected to another *A flight on C/F ticket, I will just stay at SKL lounge for the night. Getting out of the airport to a hotel at that hour to catch 4-5 hrs sleep is kind of a hassle imho.

Hi, I'd agree with Mobilebucky, better if you can stay somewhere within Changi Airport. Let's look at the math... Meng79 says that you'd get out of the airport at 2AM; for argument's sake I think you can get to the taxi line at 1:30 with a little luck. Even then, if you were to go someplace else - say Joo Chiat area per Meng79's suggestion, you go to bed at 2AM, maybe 2:15, the most sleep you can get is about 3, 3 1/2 hours before you'd have to get up and make your way to Changi airport again. If I follow Meng79's timing of getting out of the airport at 2AM (more conservative than me but pretty reasonable if you don't know your way around Changi), then you'd have even less sleep. In a worse case situation, Changi Airport has quieter areas on the airside where you can sleep. However they are in the open so if you are traveling alone you might not want to do this.

If you decide your best option is to stay at Changi Airport itself, we can give you more precise responses if you can tell us more details, ie, which airline you are arriving on, which airline you are connecting to, whether you have checked baggage to deal with and if you have any status with either or both airlines that you are arriving and departing with.

BTW there's more than one transit hotel - I believe there's one in each of terminals 1 and 2, not sure about 3. However whether they are related to each other, etc I don't know.

(BTW - message to meng79, sorry if it seems I'm picking on you - not intended, just that you had enough hard detail in your post, wanted to offer my interpretation. Apologies, it wasn't personal.)

Not at all, I'm also advising against going out of the airport, there are many options within the 3 terminals with free/paid lounges, wasn't aware there was a transit hotel for each terminal though, learned something new :)

... BTW there's more than one transit hotel - I believe there's one in each of terminals 1 and 2, not sure about 3. However whether they are related to each other, etc I don't know...They are. There's one booking Web site for all three (yes, T3 has one too). They assign you, space permitting, to the one in the terminal you'll depart from. (That's one reason they ask for flight info.) If necessary, they'll put you in another one. If "the transit hotel" is full, all three are.
