I emailed http://prepaid.thrifty.co.uk/ customer service a couple of days ago to ask about specifics of the insurances included e.g. website says SLI is included but does not say what the coverage level is.

Haven't received a response yet which seems slack.

Wondering what other people's experiences of booking through http://prepaid.thrifty.co.uk/ have been?

I need to purchase SLI and CDW because I'm not covered for these by my CC or travel insurance and thrifty prepaid seems like is going to be the best deal for me but am a bit put off by lack of reply from customer service.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

You receive the full LDW and SLI products offered by the rental agencies. This means 100% coverage of loss or damage to your rental vehicle with no deductible ("excess," in your parlance) plus waiver of most fees associated with damage (loss of use, diminuition of value, administrative fees, etc.), plus a third-party liability policy that provides $1 million aggregate coverage per incident towards damage to a third party's vehicle, personal injury, lost income, punitive damage suits, etc.

The international tour desk (which handles the prepaid bookings) is managed by a completely separate department in Florida (Tampa, IIRC, or possibly Jacksonville) that may not even be owned by DTAG (based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma), so I can't speak to their customer service.

IME, the prepaid UK rental car sites do present the best deal for overseas travelers coming to the U.S.

thanks for your info jackal. Customer service never replied to my message sent through their online contact form, so I ended up booking with Avis.
