I am visiting New Orleans in June for a convention and need a hotel recommendation for 5 days.
1. Something with in walking distance (half mile) from "New Orleans Morial Convention Center"
2. about $100 a night
3. complementary wi-fi
4. Complementary breakfast is a plus but not must
Thanks

With your criteria, the pickings are going to be slim. I've never stayed at this hotel, but you can give it a look:

Otherwise, use this website:

Rates in New Orleans fluctuate a lot, both by season (June is low) and events (how big is that convention).

For free internet, I'd be checking rates at some of the lower end brands of the big chains - Residence Inn, Courtyard, Springhill (all Marriott); Hilton Garden, Hampton, Homewood (Hilton). All offer free internet, I think; some offer breakfast; and all have locations within a half mile of the Convention Center.

You may want to pay a bit extra to be closer; a half mile isn't far, but if you're walking it in the humid heat of a New Orleans summer it can leave you sweaty, especially if you're carrying a laptop or a shopping bag full of convention swag.

Depending on the dates of your convention, you can check out the "extra small rooms" at the Renaissance New Orleans Pere Marquette Hotel. I'm planning on attending a conference there during the beginning of June. I was able to grab a reservation for a "Super Small Room" that includes breakfast for 2 for only $79/night. ^ Normal room reservations there are closer to $200/night, so this is definitely a bargain.

Unfortunately, they only have a limited number of these "small" rooms, so they go fast.

I just got back from 5 days, stayed at Marriott Convention Center across street. Bad news is that rate was $248 per nt and that was with a "deal." swag's comments were right on. Next door was the Hotel New Orleans Convention, looked a little worn but location rocks. Spring Hill suites right in that area too. They are not afraid to charge for the locational convenience in this 'hood. (Great restaurant behind Marriott called LaBoca - Argentinian steaks). A little north of Morial are Hilton, Wyndham, maybe there's a deal for your dates.

I booked "Ritz Carlton New Orleans" for $95 a night on easyclicktravel. I believe it is an excellent price for Ritz. Any openions on the hotel or price? I can still cancel it with a $30 or so penalty.
This is about 1 mile from the convenstion center but my convention actually runs a shuttle upto "Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel", just a block short of my hotel.
No free internet but I think I can pay another $10 or for it for needed nights for this hotel.

Thanks. Got little worried since some people complained about this hotel.
