Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - Using AS Miles for a Delta Biz class award to Europe....what class am I looking for?

Using ExpertFlyer to hunt for some Delta to Europe award seats using AS miles. I put in " Z" class for Delta award seats but the inventory on ExpertFlyer does not match what the AS partner desk can offer. They said it is either " O" or " R" but neither of those classes bring up anything....anytime on ExpertFlyer.

Am I using the wrong class to search?

Thanks

ExpertFlyer doesn't support the booking codes for DL mileage awards - only select upgrade codes. Nor does it claim to.

My biz class ticket to MAD said it was booked in 'O' class... Yes I found saver space and booked it online

3Cforme, nice post count- time to hit LAS ;)

But didn't realize that EF did not support this... explains why I was confused trying to use it :o

I believe the only way to find Biz award space is using Delta's website. One problem is that Delta has very poor Biz award space just see the thread What Airline woud you consider stingiest in allocating award seats... (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milesbuzz/1054561-what-airline-would-you-consider-stingiest-allocating-award-seats.html) and Delta is the clear winner for having the worst availability. Not only that but Delta's search function often does not work well.

I read in a blog somewhere how to actually find the seats on the Delta website, its a long and difficult process and hopefully the AS Mileage Plan partner desk can help that way. The Delta side does have a calendar and maybe that can guide you part way.

Anyhow don't hold your breath on trying to redeem for Delta.

Don't trust Delta's website... it flat out lies. (I discovered this firsthand trying to find a flight to MAD)... the award calendar indicates there is saver space, and there is not. You click through flights that should work and they don't. I didn't get this far, but some reported that you could click thru to the purchase page and it would fail.

I had the best success using alaskaair.com as it incorporated both AS flights & DL flights (something delta.com did not do)

If all else fails, I've heard great things about the Partners Desk. But if DL does not open up a seat... not much you can do, but fly a different carrier.

Oh yes, and don't forget this thread on how to book a Delta award (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-skymiles/1029634-definitive-how-search-low-tier-business-awards.html)using Delta's website.
