On a recent stay at BW in Montana - my company booked and paid for the reservation. I had asked for BW points upon arrival. The clerk said they do not honor award points if corporate paid for the reservation. I thought the whole purpose of award points was to ensure brand loyalty. It defeats the whole purpose of the award program. I notified BW corporate about my experience and was promptly awarded the points that I had been seeking with an apology for the clerk who did not understand the program. If managers do not want to award points for corporate travel - perhaps we should take our business elsewhere. By all means, let them know why you are considering this option and don't let them get a way with not awarding points.

I've had problems in the past with hotels not reporting stays, or only parts of stays, and BW not awarding points even when the evidence was presented to them. But then, they did make me a Platinum without me staying anything like the required number of nights, so I can't complain really.

BW locations are pathetic in awarding points. I recently took on their offer for status matching, and as BW's outside of North America are decent I had a few stays earlier this year. At booking I provided my BW# and showed my card at check-in... of the 3 hotels I've stayed at only 1 awarded points. Something simple as awarding points should not be so difficult, as small as this is it is an annoyance that would keep my business at other hotels.

Best western does seem to be the slowest in rewarding points. Hilton usually posts the same or next day and I have seen BW take over a week to post poitns.

As far as not rewarding points on a corporate stay that is common with some hotels depending on the rate. I have a friend that is a FA and he never gets points on his hotel stays with the airline. They get such a cheap rate they don't award points but some properties will give him other benefits like free bottled water if they offer it to their loyalty members.

A friend of mine used to work on long term projects as a contractor as part of a government study and would spend 6 to 8 weeks at the same hotel sometimes. Sometimes hotels would give them the points and sometimes the property wouldn't if it was a cheap negotiated rate. Seemed to vary by property not chain, he coudl stay at a hilton property in one city and get the points and a hilton property in another city and not get them.

Yes BW is pathetic with points, not so much slow (SPG is typically the following day as well), but they don't post at all until I contact customer service 3-4 weeks later!

As for corporate rates I have never had a problem with any chain but if you are talking about a 6-8 week stay that is very different as it would make sense that a heavily discounted rate is given. For my corporate rates it is for one or two nights and I have always received points regardless of hotel chain.

The website has a request missing points option that I'm all to familiar with. I wait the 7 days, fill out the forms and have the points within a day of the request.

Considering my number is on file and I show my card I assume its something with the independently owned angle.

So far this year I haven't had an issue with 5 European stays but am at 1 for 6 in NA and waiting to see about last weekends stay.
