Orlando - Discount Disney World tickets?View Full Version : Discount Disney World tickets? sggolf Mar 26, 10, 6:20 pm Does anyone have any tips on getting discounted Disney World tickets or have any older non expiring ones to trade? :) Thanks in advance... Mary2e Mar 27, 10, 8:49 am You can get discount tickets from www.ticketmania.com and AAA, as well as a few other discounters. Don't count on the discount being more than a few dollars. As well, the expiring tickets do so after 14 days (perhaps 10) of initial use, so it's not likely anyone will have any lying around. The expiring tickets never expire - as do single day tickets and can be traded in for a longer ticket at any park, so I doubt you'll find anyone interested in a trade :) Jay71 Mar 27, 10, 12:28 pm Check out this thread in the Budget Travel forum http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/budget-travel/1062081-orlando-disney-world-day-pass.html There aren't a lot of options really. gibbersome Apr 16, 10, 9:43 pm LastMinuteTravel.com has some cheap options. Is it legit? How do you get the tickets (pickup/ship)? What about any sites/stores that get multipliers on credit cards/bonus points? Ancien Maestro May 15, 10, 3:40 pm In addition to the above.. if you're staying at Disney Resort, to do a 10 day package (after day 4, its' only $3 per day), add meal plan.. and going off season, you'll get up to a $750 gift card. With the meal plan, you generally save 30% on meals, and you get early and late park access. www.disneyworld.com Disney generally gives the best deals when staying at their resort, eating all of their meals, and doing everything onsite with them. Disney tickets are not discounted if you're on a package. They always get cheaper as you keep adding days. I have also seen a current promotion with one of the major ticket broker agencies that sell you a 6 day ticket for the price of a 4 day ticket. I don't do the meal plan because I don't like to spend my time "dining." If I do, I go to the signature restaurants (and pay_ because they take 2 credits and people on the meal plan won't go. Plus, I seriously question their 30% off number. Perhaps it's 30% off the most expensive meal in the most expensive restaurant, but in many cases, you save a bit, but not a whole lot. As for the gift card, they haven't offered one in a while. Perhaps it's for Canadians. That said, the FT of Disney is www.disboards.com. Thanks for tips Mary.. although they are packages, most FTers or Disney goers for a matter don't know about it until its too late. For Example, for us first time to Disneyland.. I had no clue about the packages.. so although there are packages, its good to provide information. Maybe I'm bias to the meal plan because I'm a big guy, like CrazyHotelGuy and TooManyBooks. From experience, buying a la carte first time at the World was such a dent in the wallet, the second time around we got the free meal plan deal last August, and it was phenomenal value. For example, we spent like a $110 for lunch at Crystal Palace between 2 adults, a senior, and a 3 year old.. while the meal plan seemed like the deal of the century if we had to pay it everyday. The quick serve was great because it made it flexible wherever we were to go.. and the snacks were awesome because we had a nice Pineapple Dole, ice cream sundae, milke shake, juice.. everyday. So nice touch! Even Supper at Le Cellier reached $160, but only required 1 meal credit for all of us.^ Edit: Currently offers are 15% to 40% off room.. or free disney dining plan.. a savings of $689 for a family of 4 based on a 5 night/6 day package at a moderate resort.. OLE!^ dinosims May 17, 10, 11:40 pm Just to report back: I just came back from Disney (had an awesome time!) and bought the tickets through lastminutetravel.com. Great experience all around - had a chat with an online rep before I bought them who was very reassuring, and the next day after buying them was emailed an official looking voucher which was accepted at the will-call window at any of the parks. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking for cheaper (or well, less expensive) Disney tickets. Great to hear you guys had an awesome time!^ Discount tickets are hard to come by.. probably because Disney cracks down on the retailers who do so.. glad you were able to swing a deal! So nice touch!Uhhh, you are paying rack rate for the room just to get the free dining plan. Depending upon where you stayed, you may have overpaid. I'm getting 40% off my room this trip (and the last several trips) and it's actually a better deal than free dining. As well, who else but Disney could get away with charging full price for a room at the height of hurricane season (it usually runs mid-Aug to end of Sept) by throwing in free dining? Even Supper at Le Cellier reached $160, but only required 1 meal credit for all of us.^When did you do this? The dining plan no longer includes tip, and they also don't include either appetizer or dessert (I forgot which one). It's not the value it once was. I can see 3 people running up a $160 tab if you have appetizer, entree, & dessert + the tip included. Edit: Currently offers are 15% to 40% off room.. or free disney dining plan.. a savings of $689 for a family of 4 based on a 5 night/6 day package at a moderate resort.. OLE!^Unless you're staying at a value, in most cases, during low season (mid Aug-mid Dec) you will do better with the room discount. The website has people who actually did spreadsheets to help people decide what to do. Mary2e May 18, 10, 9:10 am Great to hear you guys had an awesome time!^ Discount tickets are hard to come by.. probably because Disney cracks down on the retailers who do so.. glad you were able to swing a deal!If you subscribe to the www.mousesavers.com newsletter, they have a link to undercovertourist.com with additional discounts. They are the cheapest tickets to be had, unless Walmart on Rt 535 in LBV has some in stock for a little less than that - but you're chancing them having them. hhoope01 May 18, 10, 9:20 am Unless you're staying at a value, in most cases, during low season (mid Aug-mid Dec) you will do better with the room discount.I do believe that if staying at a value, you only get the lowest/cheapest dining plan free instead of the middle plan. As such, you may still be better off with the room discount over the dining plan. All I can say is that the only time we used the dining plan (family of 4 with two teenagers), we ended up with unused credits. We were eating so much, we just couldn't use them all. Mary2e May 18, 10, 9:24 am They changed the dining plan and now it includes less food and doesn't include the tip. As you said, they changed the type of food you get depending upon the hotel class you get. I'd just rather pay for my own food and eat in the places I like, which either take 2 credits or aren't on the plan at all :) Ancien Maestro May 18, 10, 2:22 pm I posted the actual specials in the other thread. The dining plan deal is only a moderate resorts currently, and yes it could definitely be better value going with the room discount on Deluxe, and Deluxe resorts, and paying for the dining plan seperately. Regarding Le Cellier, very lucky to get supper, a better value for lunch. Granted, it is misleading to think that every restaurant under the dining plan will give you as much value as we received at Le Cellier. I think with tip it would have came to $185.. So it was three adults and a three year old that this bill we had reflected.. and the steaks/meals are certainly more expensive a supper time. So three steaks.. $43 average, 1 kids steak, 4 drinks, 4 desserts. $160 maybe a bit low come to think of it once you get the steaks, kids meal, 4 drinks and 4 desserts. Even Crystal Palace, supper buffet is about double than the lunch, so better value to go for supper. I dunno. if I was paying for all these high end restaurants, We would have tortured ouselves with a bill coming to about $1,500 for the 9 days last summer we were there.. Thankfully we had a free meal plan.. stayed at a Fort Wilderness Cabin.. not so great, but good enough to just sleep and get going the next day again. I agree that the tipping used to be included, and they've cut back a bit. I experienced the same thing with the Hotel Program I'm involved in and is a bit of a downer.. so I can see where you're coming from. |
