The MOW - HKG route is about to get more popular with flights increasing from 4 weekly to 13 weekly during Summer 2010. This is a result of the recent visa waiver between Hong Kong and Russia.

Aeroflot 5 weekly (A330-200) SVO
Hong Kong Airlines 4 weekly (A330-200) SVO from 28Jun10 *1st long-haul route
Cathay Pacific 3 weekly (A340-300) DME from 13Jul10
Transaero 1 weekly (777-200ER) DME from 30Jul10

All are confirmed and seen on GDS.

From what I've heard anecdotally from friends, the flights have been packed.

It sure was for part of my trip, HKG-SVO and back. But then again, that was during Chinese New Year, when everyone's out..

The CX DME flight has been timed very nicely with the AKL flight and several other destinations. Even O&D pax have excellent timing with both sectors arriving at their respective destinations at around 7:00AM at departing night. The A340-300 used for this route is currently stationed at DME for roughly 11 hours, possibly meaning a future MAN extension (Moscow is not served by MAN nonstop yet) operating during the day - originally supposed to be launched in 2005.

Apparently, there's still plenty of demand despite a sudden surge in supply (now with CX, HX, SU but UN dropped out) on MOW-HKG in which Aeroflot is going daily with the A332.

higher demand is because hong kong and rusia sign a visa free agreement.
