Does QF have intra Asia code shares on CX ex HKG or JL ex NT or any of their own flights ex HKG?

Yes, at least on JL NRT-SIN.

HKG-SIN is operated by JQ (so presumably no QF codeshare and not useful to you for SC sector credit unless you use a Starclass fare (cheap J), which does credit to QFF).

HKG-SIN is actually a 3K (Jetstar Asia) route not JQ. As such it is only served by A320's and there is no Starclass. Can earn SC's/points on JetFlex fares, on this route but with these fares starting from $700SGD return (plus whatever addons you choose, eg luggage, drinks, food) , CX is probably a better option, unless needing 4 ~'s to keep status. IIRC, they do count for ~'s.

Considering the number of codeshares BA has in its European backyard and AA has in its South American backyard, QF has comparably done a really poor job of sewing up code shares in SE Asia. I imagine the perception is little or no demand for it.

The Australian gov't doesn't require its contractors to fly QF, while AA gets lots of business on it's codeshares (including many in Europe) due to US law requiring use of US-flag carrier when available (even if virtual). That law has recently changed, we'll see if codeshares change too for AA.

Also yields are quite low for ionter-Asia flights, doubt that QF has any interest in being in that business. More QF codeshares in Europe and US than in Asia. I'm sure QF would love to charge higher prices in Asia, but instead overflies it for the most part. Even Japan gets spotty service.

I suspect they are also worried that people will realise how much better the competition is - CX, for example, has vastly better connections from ADL to asia than QF, as do MH/SG for that matter (because each has a daily direct flight to a hub plus good onward connections).

Where QF COULD help itself is with codeshares from SIN - at least there is a 4-day-per-week ADL/SIN direct, but currently there are almost no easy onward connections to Asia (by 'easy' I mean no baggage collection/re-check, preferably get your boarding passes for the lot in ADL etc).

The trouble is QF services to SIN - QF's main Asian hub, do not support many connections, given their arrival time into SIN. They do support connections to Europe, India and Japan, and there actually are codeshares to each of these (AF to CDG, 9W to DEL and BOM, JL to NRT).

For services to BKK, MNL & CGK QF would rather route you via SYD on their services.

For HKG, whilst they don't codeshare sales to support extensive onwards connections to KA to mainland China.

For PVG, there are several codeshares on China Eastern.
