Just a head's up for anyone who is planning on traveling to San Diego mid July. The San Diego comic con runs from July 21 - 25, 2010 in the convention center and currently hotels that are not already sold out, are going for outrageously high prices. All hotel in and around San Diego downtown, Mission Valley, Sea World and over on Coronado, La Jolla are mostly sold out. There are some hotels still reasonable in Del Mar, but I would definitely avoid anything downtown including restaurants at night, that is really when you have the 144,000 geeks on the loose....lol lol
So unless you are actually going to the convention, you may want to take note of the days and plan accordingly.

[shakes head]
I remember Comicon back in the 1980s, when it was a locals only, two day event down in Mission Gorge....and it didn't even fill the Town and Country.

LOL So do I. 1981 was the first year I went. The changes are overwhelming.

Even though Town and Country isn't the greatest property in the world, it is a good place to stay while attending Comic-Con. Away from the hassle of a crowded downtown and the trolley is right behind the property. Ride to Old Town, change trains and right down to the convention center. $5 round trip and it beats trying to park.

Bumping because summer is coming and people will be planning summer travel. Remember to avoid San Diego during this time unless you are actually going to the convention!!
Or stay north of town and don't plan on going down town till after the convention. You would be very sorry!!
