Nordic Countries - Tromso...car or no car?

I'm taking a short trip up to Tromso later this spring (late May). I've got a car booked, but the price seems pretty high.
In reality, I'm going to have two full days. Is there enough to do in the city where not having a car isn't an issue? Is the bus service fairly good? I'm staying at the Radisson if that helps. Is everything pretty much walking distance from there?
Would I be shooting myself in the foot if I were to cancel the car? Am I going to miss seeing something fantastic if I choose to go strictly with public trans up here?
Thanks.

I don't know Tromsų that well, but since nobody else has answered I'll give it a shot. The only reason for getting a car would be if you wanted to leave the city. It's not that big a place, and buses and walking should cover most of it, especially if you spend most of your time on the island. Drop the car and save the money for beer. You're going to need it! :D

The public transport is pretty good around even that rather remote part of Norway. You'd be able to see most everything you'd want to see up there and around there using public transport as long as willing to fit your schedule into the likes of the bus schedule to get around there and the area and getting intimately familiar with the bus system there.

Tromso is certainly walkable around the Radisson hotel, which is very close to the waterfront, and buses/taxis can easily get you to where you are going. I suppose getting a car likely depends on how mobile/fit you are as there are some fair sized hills throughout town.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I'm fit so the hills won't be an issue with regards to walking. Is it possible to buy a day pass for the bus?

It doesn't look that way: The city buses are currently operated by Cominor, and their webpage only lists prices for single tickets and travel cards valid for two weeks and more.
