Things are starting to look up for kosher eating in the Orlando area.

This trip I visited the new Cohen's Deli and Butcher Shop. Under the hechsher of the RCF (Vaad of Central Florida). It is located on Route 27, a little south of Route 50.

It is located in a new shopping village, and has been open about 6 months. The sandwiches were genrous, came with an included side, andwere reasonably priced. Mashchiach on premises. The yalso carry some butcher meat, but most ofthe displays were labeled "kosher for Passover" and unsurprisingly mostly gone. They do have meals to go, both weekday and shabbos.

There are about 10 tables, and I liked the place.

I'm forgetting the name of the place, but there was a restaurant in Orlando (might still be there) that was kosher, right next to a Publix. Supposedly really good, but if you went anytime from Nov-Feb, you couldn't even get in because it was so crowded! I remember we all had to wait in the car, and my father somehow squeezed in there to ask what the wait time was. It was 7 PM, and they were closing at midnight. That being said, the manager told him that he couldn't envision us getting a table before closing! Dinner that night consisted of tuna and bread with plastic utensils from Publix. (A free continental breakfast at the Mariott, with a lot of kosher options, the next morning, made for a slightly better wake-up.)

Purpose of my post: I hope this new place doesn't turn into a zoo!

When were you there? I was there during "yeshiva week" when all the Jewish day schools have winter break and they ALL go to Florida! (For those who aren't familiar, "yeshiva week" is the last 2 weeks of January.)

Must be a New York thing. On the west coast, Jewish Day Schools have winter break at the same time that it is taken at public and non Jewish private schools.

Correct - NY area only. Philidelphia and Boston areas (not that far away) also have the same as "regular" schools - aka, Christmas break
