iDine/Rewards Network - How to get Hilton Honors and RN / iDine at the same time?

Interesting situation that I don't think I've seen before. I will be staying at the Hilton Bentley in Miami South Beach in a couple of weeks. I see that the hotel restaurant Gaia is an i-dine participant. However, if I charge the dine to my room to get HHonors points, am I correct in assuming no i-dine miles? Or can I appeal to Rewards Network after the fact that the dine was charged to my room which was then charged to my registered credit card? (I imagine this would have to be manually posted.)
Alternatively, can I charge the dine to my credit card (it will be on a double points night) and then ask Hilton for the HHonors points since I am staying at the hotel?

I think you'll find they're mutually exclusive.

The Hilton Polaris in Columbus Ohio also has its on-site restaurant and its bar in iDine. Stayed there a week in November 2009 and actually tested double-dipping by charging a drink to my room. No dice on getting iDine rewards. The charge hit my CC as part of the room charge and iDine would not accept the hilton folio as proof of purchase from the bar.
It was a double-rewards period, so I'm glad I put all the restaurant charges directly on the CC.

Thanks ZeppoX. That definitely answers my question!
Did you ask HHonors if you could have Hilton points for the dine? :D

What if you used a hilton CC for the spend? That should give you extra points (as its hilton property) on the CC, and IDine points. Not what you were asking for, but still worth something...?

Enrolling a HHonors card with Rewards Network will render the usual HHonors points (3 per dollar spent, iirc,) and the Rewards Network program miles, as long as the card is properly registered with RN and the property accepts the card (some properties do not accept AMEX, so that will negate use of AMEX HHonors or AMEX HHonors Surpass cards).

I don't think so. To get the 6 or 9 points per $ on the Hilton CC, your charge has to come from a Hilton family hotel. To get that at the restaurant, you have to charge it to your room, which means it won't work for iDine/RN. To get the iDine/RN to work, you must use the card (instead of billing it to your room), which means the charge will come through with the restaurant name, not the hotel name, as the merchant, which means the Hilton CC won't give you the extra points for Hilton family hotel purchases.
So you have to choose one or the other.
Now, for the real trick, see if you can get it to work in reverse: Ask the hotel if you can charge your entire stay to the attached restaurant! :) Even if you could (and I have some doubts), that would mean you wouldn't get points or miles or stay credit on your HHonors account, so the iDine/RN better be worth more to you if you want to run that experiment. (Of course, if you'd booked your stay through a blind-bidding site or such, you already wouldn't get points or miles or stay credit on your HHonors account, so if you could get this to work, it would seem to be the way to earn the most in such a case.)
